Chris Ford / SciFord – Lasse Henning – Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back – Studio Scale Twin Pod Cloud Car

I wanted to share with you my latest completed kit. It’s the latest release from Lasse Henning of Norway…his studio scale Bespin Twin Pod Cloud Car. The kit’s a beast, in a most fantastic way. And he created it old school style by scratch building the master by hand and then creating and pouring the molds. I just had to get one of these already having purchased his Vader Tie Fighter (seen in my area on your site) some years ago. This Cloud Car kit has been logically designed for easy completion. The parts have virtually no flash and only minor clean up was necessary. Each cockpit has been left open for the builder to do with as they want...

SciFord/Chris Ford – Star Wars: ROTJ/The Mandalorian, Episode 1 – 3D Printed – Salacious Crumb

While I’m awaiting delivery of Lasse’s latest kit. I decided to finish up and home my little Mr Crumb. I bought him from a fellow online who’d printed him from a file. It’s the first time I’d worked with a printed model. He’s quite fragile and extremely lightweight. I knew from the start I wanted to house him in a cage, like the ones at the start of Ep 1 of The Mandalorian were. He needed some added chicken feathers to bring him to life so I did that a few evenings ago. Today I modified a wild bird feeder and attached him to a perch which was a piece of local driftwood. The base too was cut from some driftwood. I added a single white led at the top and hid the battery box under the base. I’ll display the cage hanging from a tall metal shepherd’s crook which I’ll then place in the lounge...

SciFord – Chris Ford – STAR WARS – Fine Molds 1/72 Boba Fett’s SLAVE ONE

I wanted to share my latest model project with everyone. In actuality it’s the Fine Molds 1/72 scale Jango Fett kit which I built years ago. The photos of my original build of it as the Jango Fett Slave I are on the Modeler Magic site (CLICK HERE TO VIEW THEM). However I never did anything with it and it just kinda hung around collecting dust. I’d always wanted a Boba Fett version but couldn’t afford a second kit at the time. So a few months ago I decided to convert it to the Boba Fett version as seen in the original Film trilogy (#5). This wasn’t “The Mandalorian” inspired, as when I started this conversion, as I’d not seen any of that TV series yet. (I’ve since seen the error of my ways and have binge watched it all, lol)...

Chris Ford’s – Star Wars – Salzo (MSLZ22 Models) V2 Studio Scale X-Wing RE-BUILD!!

This is my X Wing rebuild. There are already a few photos of this model back from 2009 under my name on Modeler Magic (SEEN HERE), but…..sadly over a rather hot summer about 8 years ago and during a house mode, my pride and joy X-Wing got left in a too hot place for a few months. When I finally got around to sorting out my models, both lower wings were drooping like a hound dog’s. Both upper wings had sever warping. Then body was still intact. Needless to say I was heartbroken and then got really angry. I pulled all the wings off and put the lot into a black back destined for the rubbish. Fortunately it never made it to the rubbish. It all ended up in the bottom of a drawer.

Cut to the most recent Star Wars film 9 The Rise of Skywalker. I saw it just before last Christmas...

Alfred Wong’s – CORELLIAN FREIGHTER – from 1990’s SMT Technologies Kit – 24 Year Build by Chris Ford!

I just finished shooting some photos of my latest build, a Corellian Freighter. I tend to refer to it as such as it wasn’t created as a Millennium Falcon copy per se. It was mastered by Alfred Wong back in the ’90’s who created it “in the spirit” of the Falcon. It has elements of both A New Hope and the Empire Strikes Back Falcons incorporated into it. So I built it in the same spirit. I also used the Corellian Freighter Blueprints as a guide for some of the detail. It was available via SMT Technologies but only for a very short while as Colin was forced to stop producing it. For myself, I started it about 24 years ago and have now just completed it. I’m in the process of making an acrylic stand and display case for it now, but wanted to share it with you at this time.

Thanks,

Chris Ford (...

Studio Scale ROMULAN WARBIRD by Chris Ford

WOW!! Built from the amazing TIMESLIP CREATIONS Kit, artist Chris Ford is the FIRST to complete his build of us all who have purchased this fantastic kit thus far! TIMESLIP did a great job bringing this dream to life and Chris DID bring it to life! I love this!!! It is great to view Chris’s work again!

I recently completed my Warbird build and thought you might like to a couple of photos I took of it. It’s the kit from George at Timeslip Creations. The build is also going to be featured in issue 35 of Sci Fi & Fantasy Modeller magazine. It’s a big kit as you know and I love it. I also added a working laser to mine. I’d been off the modelling scene for a while with work and health issues but I’m back now…with a vengeance, lol!
Cheers!

Chris Ford

“Bad Day”… A “What If?” Apollo 11 Diorama by Chris Ford (SciFord)

“HOUSTON…. WE HAVE A PROBLEM!”

In honor of the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, professional modeler Chris Ford did this joking diorama of the EAGLE’s Jettison Pod after a mishap. Notice Astronaut Neil Armstrong with his palm to his helmet probably saying alll the stuff he couldn’t say on VOX! Of course Astronaut “Buzz” Aldrin was not in the LEM’s cabin when it malfunctioned, but off somewhere in the distance. However… here is a disclaimer****NO ASTRONAUTS WERE HURT IN THIS DIORAMA****. I can’t imagine what Michael Collins would be thinking if this had happened!! Then again… it is a great thing we take so many precautions with our Astronauts safety. They are our heroes, and our future after all! A beautiful and amusing homage to the first men on the moon by Chris Ford!
