Tobias Richter – JT Graphic/Howling Wolf – 2003 BATTLESTAR GALACTICA – 1/2500 (29.5″/ 74.9cm) Cylon Basestar

This piece was originally shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on February 18, 2009 and is now updated to today’s showing standard!

This magnificent piece was built and photographed by artist Tobias Richter of The Light Works. Tobias used the Howling Wolf 1/2500 kit (HW-005) that is now sold by JT-Graphics (CLICK HERE to View their Kit). I love how the subtle blue lighting accents the Cylon Raider bays on this huge 29.5 inch model.  Plus, if one chose to have a to scale display for BSG, this goes along side their 1/2500 22.5″ Battlestar kit perfectly. This one is beautifully built by Tobias Richter.

The vinyl is very soft, so I fear the long tentacles will sag over time. I did glue some metal support rods inside of them – hope that´ll help it.  I first didn´t want to include...

Tobias Richter – Atomic City Models (aka Captain Cardboard) – Star Wars – Studio Scale X-Wing RED 4

This piece by artist Tobias Richter was originally shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on February 17, 2009. We are now updating it to today’s showing standard! Even back then the Captain Cardboard kit was amazing. Having ties back to the original PYRO Filming Models, this kit was the first studio scale X-Wing model kit ever produced, and it served us all very well. I am grateful to Scott Alexander of Atomic City Models (aka Captain Cardboard) for initially releasing this as a kit for us all to enjoy… Like this one that Tobias built us as RED 4! Back in 2009 RED 4 (John D.) reference was still a bit of a challenge to get hold of. This replica turned out fantastic! Excellent work to Tobias Richter!

Tobias Richter (The Light Works) – HALCYON – ALIEN – NARCISSUS

This piece was originally shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on February 16, 2009 and now updated to today’s showing standard!

This is the escape capsule, NARCISSUS, which Ripley used to get away at the end of the 1979 film “Alien”. The kit is very nice, although there are some parts that don’t fit perfectly (the nose section). But over all, this is a beautiful little ship.”

Christian Söder – Built for the Tobias Richter Collection – WARP Models – Star Trek – 1/200 (27″ Wide) KLINGON Bird of Prey

This piece was originally shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on February 3, 2009 and now updated to today’s showing standard!

I got this heap of resin from a friend, Carsten Sommer, back a couple of years ago. Since I didn’t feel quite up to the task of such a huge model – having never before worked with resin – I turned to artist Christian Söder, who did a beautiful job with the buildup and painting of this 27 inch wide WARP Model Kit – getting just the right amount of color, weathering and rust to it. I brought this to a Star Trek Convention last year and have the base signed by H.G. Hertzler (Klingon General Martok) and Robert O´Reilly (Klingon Chancellor Gowron).

Tobias Richter – NICE-N Model Designs – Studio Scale AT-ST

This piece was originally shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on January 31, 2009 and now updated to today’s showing standard!

The AT-ST is, like the bigger AT-AT, one of the most popular designs of the Star Wars universe.

In late 2007, Steve Neisen made this beautiful kit of the AT-ST available in studio scale size, in versions for Star Wars V (the Hoth attack, this version had, among other things, much longer legs) and Star Wars VI.

I chose the version that was seen in the Endor forest, where Chewbacca pilots one of these walkers.

The kit had an amazing amount of detail parts, and I was a bit skeptical at first how to build it up, as the legs would have to support the weight of the rather heavy head.
But to my surprise, this was probably the quickest build I´ve made in the l...

Tobias Richter’s 1/350 TMP Klingon K’TINGA Cruiser by Richard Long

January 28, 2009
“The Klingons are probably one the most well known Alien race in modern Science Fiction. And the Klingon Cruiser is their most successful ship design – the basic lines stayed unchanged for decades, with the latest incarnation as chancellor Gorkon’s ship “K’Ronos One” in “Star Trek IV – The Undiscovered Country”, the last movie to feature the complete classic cast with Kirk. Spock, Bones and the gang. The movie version of the basic Klingon Cruiser is the first vessel to be seen in the first Star Trek movie and makes one of the most impressive opening shots in SF history. In scale with the 1/350 Polar Lights Enterprise Refit, Richard Long made a beautiful kit of this famous Klingon Cruiser...

Tobias Richter’s 1/448 (104cm / ~41 Inch!) Excelsior Class Starship – USS Lexington

Originally shown here on Modeler Magic back on February 2, 2009…. this nearly 41 inch Excelsior Class Starship Miniature was built by artist Tobias Richter of The Light Works for his own Collection. As stated by Tobias… this kit was a real pain to build, and he felt it may be a possible re-cast. He states that the parts were off in nearly every dimension, and that to make this model as it should be, it would have taken much scratch work which he simply did not wish to take on. Thus he made this model the best he could with much sanding involved. Never the less… at almost 41 inches… this remains the largest kit I have seen built of the Excelsior Class. I am very interested in where that kit emerged from myself. Tobias chose to name it USS Lexington...
