MarioMaker – DeAgostini Model Space – Gerry Anderson’s THUNDERBIRD 2

I normally build resin kits but every so often, get an injection molded kit and build that.

This is a Thunderbird 2 kit from De Agostini Model Space. I bought it as a full kit instead of subscription and quickly built the model.

Since this is injection molded and I’m sure designed in CAD and tooled, parts fit, so it was pretty easy to slap it together.

I have no interest in the electronics and lighting because it looks too Toys R Us like so I never bother putting batteries in. Instead, build it as a display model.

The body is molded in the red and greens but I went ahead and added a few custom made decals to enhance the realism and was too lazy to pull out the airbrush, so I used pastels to weather the body. This was built so quickly, I didn’t even bother using solveset on the decals...

Marko Osterholz’s 5 Foot Millennium Falcon, 32″ Replica WIP

I have always loved the 5ft Falcon, the old piece of junk. I was excited to see that the digital Millennium Falcon made for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was based on the 5ft model. Unfortunately, 5ft is quite big for a display model so I came up with the idea of building a 5ft-style Falcon in half the size – which equals 32″ (technically 30″ would be correct, but the 32″ Falcon is half the size of the 5ft model). On my Facebook-group I document ways of converting the 32″ DeAgostini model into the 5ft-look. With lots of 3D-printed donor parts, correction of saucer-shape, mandibles and jawbox. Everyone can join the experiment and decide how far one wants to go in terms of detail and authenticity.
With Tony Regidor (aka 308bits), Christian Fröhlich and Nico Möbius I have some awesome 3D-guys ...

Jean-Marc DesChamps DEAGOSTINI Millennium Falcon Modifications and Paint Job for the Paul Schach Collection

Gentlemen, I have the pleasure to present you my paint job on a DeAgostini Millennium Falcon for a customer named Paul Schach, who became a close friend. Paul wanted his baby paint a little bit more contrasted than the original model. I improved the replica by dremeling all the laser impacts and by adding resin figures in the cockpit. Purists and Empire sympathizers may say the figures characters are those from Star Wars ANH and not ESB from this Millennium comes. As the customer would reply, it’s Star Wars anyway, and if there are windows on the cockpit, it is to prevent air leaking!

Concerning the paint, I used Tamiya spray AS 16 for the base color and added yellow to get a grey/beige color, but not as yellow as is the original model today...

SD Studios – Steve Dymszo’s Studio Scale DeAgostini Millennium Falcon

So this is the DeAgostini kit with about 150 replacement parts. I used parts from Shapeways and original model kit parts to replace some of the kit. I also added about 30 missing parts that we didn’t catch on the MR version, because they had fallen off before we got to them. I also removed all of the molded screws and used real screws across the surface of the model. The paint job took about 120 hours and there’s probably about 250 hours in the build. I also added about 50 ultra-bright LEDs to the engine and it is blinding! The cockpit cone is a Shapeways replacement, because the kit cone was really bad. I worked with the factory to try to fix it but they just messed it up more, so I gave up...

I just finished a build of the DeAgostini Facon at Echo Base. I haven’t seen too many of these Echo Base dioramas so I thought it might be cool for others to see it.
