Round 2 – Deep Space 9 (DS9) by Wayne Minney

I was commissioned by a collector in Germany to build a new Deep Space Nine space station model to replace the current one being displayed in his private Star Trek museum. This new version was to be fully lighted, including flood lighting on the docking pylons, lit cabin windows, flashing anti-collision markers and a pulsating reactor core.

The kit used was the Round 2 clear re-issue, which presented plenty of challenges and fit issues to contend with. The model was further detailed with subtle colored paneling, pencil lines and then weathered using the 1st season opening credits sequence as main reference. The finer panel detailing is so subtle that it is barely visible in most of the photographs, but really helps to sell the scale when viewed in person.

SOLD!! Enterprise 1701-D by Wayne Minney

SOLD!!

Enterprise 1701-D

$3,000

20121209_223325

Artist Wayne Minney is selling his masterpiece build of this specific Starship. As builds of the 1701-D are concerned, this is one of the best I have seen!

Modeler’s Miniatures & Magic

The model is fully lighted, with screen accurate navigation beacon positions and flash rates. The saucer windows are lit exactly as seen on screen, and the model has been heavily modified to make it accurate to the 6′ filming miniature. The aztec paneling has been airbrushed using 4 custom mixed colors, and the complex patterns have been reproduced as close to the original as possible. I believe that it is the most accurate model of the Enterprise D, at this scale, that has been made as yet.

Many thanks

Wayne Minney

1:1400 “Generations” Enterprise 1701-D by Wayne Minney

I have the great pleasure of introducing artist Wayne Minney to this gallery. His work on this Round 2 (AMT/Ertl) Enterprise 1701-D is one of the BEST I have ever seen! Painted as the “Generations” version… Wayne’s paint up is spectacular! He even managed to get the GOLD of the Nacelle Grills correct for the ‘static’ model while unlit! Most simply accept the blue that comes with the kit now-days. Each marking is beautiful with this piece that took a few years to complete. Had he used an armature in order to keep the saucer on, this could have been filmed today! Also… I am informed that Wayne MAY SELL THIS PIECE to the right Collector should they happen along!! See info below!!

Here is my recently completed Enterprise D as seen in “Generations...
