Barrie Clucas – VTOL

The VTOL craft was an idea I had for a long time. It began with building the two seats and then the whole craft just grew around them. Most of the model was plastic sheet, but I also used some other items such as Herasetas ( sugar substitute ) containers, and some thick brass electrical wire for the pipe work and other detail parts. The two control panels in the craft swing outwards to allow crew access. Also, the front of the model lifts when the Astronauts have an EVA to perform. The fuel tank is armored and sits in the tail of the model. It would be used for planet exploration hops and also double up as a close support vehicle when guns are added. Overall the model took two months to build and changed from day to day as the design in my head kept changing.

Randy Cooper – Model from 1979 – Construction Ship / HOME DEPOT Freighter

This is the oldest original model I have. It’s 41 years old. I recently had to open it up, because of interior parts that came loose. So I decided to change out the incandescent lights with LEDs, re-paint some interior parts, and added some additional rooms and details. Plus, I added a loader in the rear bay. I built this model the same year Home Depot opened…. in 1979. Once I painted the Orange on, the name became obvious.

JP Modelworks – Delta Starfighter’s, Mk1 & Mk 2

Here is another finished model from the Pandemic workshop.

This is a design I had done in the 80’s and I built the MK 1 version then. Fast forward to 2020. I wanted to build a MK 2 version with a full cockpit and added details. This one was also enhanced with a runway style base I made with sheet styrene and I even scratch built a boarding ladder for the pilot.

Lasse Henning 2009 – Scratch & Bash WORK POD

This piece was originally shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on February 5, 2009 and now updated to today’s showing standard! Artist Lasse Henning has inspired million of our world viewers for a very long time now… including myself. I saw this showing from 2009 and thought it may be great to bump to 2020! Lasse always has fun while building… which accounts for the passion we view in each creation he produces. This one is no different. And it looks like Lars was visiting at one point as they normally did model making together back then. What a fantastic creation this is!

Nigel Rostance – Ian McQue Inspired – Tofu Tower with Airship Junkers – A Scratch & Bash Display

“I Hate You, Ian McQue…”

Once upon a time, (modelling) life was simple. I was content to build kits and scratch build from various Gerry Anderson series, assorted Sci-Fi television and movies, and Japanese anime mechs from the 80’s & 90’s. And then it happened; I stumbled across a posting in “Concept Ships” featuring the work of artist Ian McQue. His color palate and subjects of flying junk boats traversing through the air, defying gravity on some future/past Earth or other planet was inspiring! This was 10 years ago, and from then on he has lived in my head rent free. So for this latest project I decided the best way to “purge” was to build a small fleet of ships to get him out of my system. As usual, the plan failed...
