Studio Scale DEATH STAR Turret by John Simmons

Got the cannons wrapped up on the Turret. The photos aren’t great and have made it look yellow, but I’ll get some decent daylight pics later. Lark DK with tons of misting of Mud and Grime.

Lee Ralph’s (Johnston/Rodis-Jamero SKETCHBOOK & Cantwell/McQuarrie Inspired) Concept Y-Wing – COMPLETED!!

Here is my Joe Johnston Star Wars Sketchbook Concept Y wing.

I’d been toying with the idea of building this some two years back or so now. Always did love the sketches by Joe and Nilo, along with the work of Ralph McQuarrie and Colin Cantwell.
So on this, I decided once a few bits were cleared from my bench, id set out to build her, entirely from scratch, in a hypothetical “what if” aspect.

Using the various sketches, the first port of call, was the rather sleek and aggressive cockpit module. This was built entirely from sheet styrene, and took quite some time to adjust to my liking, while staying with the sketch Joe Johnston so lovingly crafted.

Once the cockpit was pretty much finished, it was time to fashion a suitable armature from alloy, that I could begin to build the hull upon.

Johnston Concept Y-Wing – WIP Part 5 – by Lee Ralph

Moving along with the paint now. Some very stylized shading and streaking seem to breath some life into her. Hopefully soon we will see her as a whole If I can complete the the thruster/vane assembly and base coat them in the lovely Archive-X Reefer white.

John Simmons – WIP – Studio Scale Death Star Turret

Just having some fun with this Studio Scale DS Turret, laid on some base color and basic weathering, I’ll tighten all this up later. Colors used for the base, Antique White and Reefer Grey 50/50. I would have used Death Star Surface Grey but that wasn’t with me so I thought I’d Wing it (lol). Rust, trench olive, SP Lark DK and Engine Black by Archive-X has been slung at it so far. Looks more blue in person!

FOR SALE!! NICE-N Model Designs – Studio Scale T-47 Snowspeeder by Lee Ralph

FOR SALE!!

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Studio Scale T-47 Snowspeeder Replica

£2500

Plus ‘Actual’ Shipping

My Rogue Leader Studio Scale Snowspeeder, from my own collection. Due to a few changes in direction, a lack of space, she is now for sale. This model was finished some years ago and has been on display for a while. Derived from a Nice-N Model Designs kit, the model has had a few mods carried out, the cockpit was made closer to the original filming mini, with a faux armature bar, and she sits on a Panavise mount, which threads into a 6mm large alloy plate tapped into the lower hull, a very sturdy mount point, this model does have some weight, the MR model was only 3/4 of this girls full size...

Lee Ralph’s Build of the TimeSlip ESB Studio Scale Cloud Car

My recently completed Studio Scale Timeslip Twin Pod Cloud Car. This is the revised kit released some time ago, with the larger rear shrouds. No major modifications to speak of, save for the time consuming job of correcting the gun apertures and adding the correct parts.

The model is painted exclusively in the newly released Archive-X enamels, that mirror the period Floquil tones of the ’70s perfectly.

The first hue laid down, was obviously Reefer orange over a light grey primer coat. From here, various panels were picked out, and matched as close as possible from the various reference that exists of the prop.

Rust was used to to tone the nose and various other panels, and then a very light mist of SP Light Lark grey was used to further tone the other panels.

Once this stage was complete, ...

Studio Scale GOLD 5 Y-Wing by Lee Ralph

Greetings all.

Following on from my Red 3 build, i would like to now show you my newest addition. My Gold 5 studio scale Y wing.

The model is derived from originally, a Nice-N Model Designs Red Jammer kit. While Steve and Co, did a fantastic job on this model, my aspirations lay elsewhere. So many parts were added, and i went about scratch building new engines and other ancillaries. So she has ended up a real hybrid of parts.

I decided to originally convert this model to the Gold Leader variant, but after spending some considerable time doing this, better pictures of Gold 5 surfaced in a recent Japanese StarWars publication.

I went about tearing off all my toil, and re-configuring the model somewhat closer to this destroyed Pyro designated model...

Lee Ralph’s Fantastic Studio Scale PYRO X-Wing Replica… RED 3

This is my most recent work. I was lucky enough to obtain a two part Pyro hull casting, and a full set of Pyro parts to complete the build. My Goal was to create a very rough and ready, warts warps and all replica of the Pyro Red 3. The model was painted with an automotive application white base coat, and, luckily i was able to acquire the paints to fully finish it in the Floquil line of paints.

I’m still very much learning about photographing these birds, so I hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Best Regards……Lee Ralph (Ralphee)

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Studio Scale Probe Droid

£2300

This is my resin Probe Droid. Many of you would have seen me build this on the forums. It started life as the Rolando/NiceN resin kit, but has been modified and improved greatly over the OOB resin casting.
The head had the majority of either scruffy, or incorrect parts shaved off and replaced with original styrene parts, this included the eye lenses, that are styrene domes from the Saturn V. It also has an LED in the main eye, powered by a 9V battery that stores in the head cavity.

The body also underwent the same treatment, new kits parts, sharp details, and the chest box was also replaced with original parts.
The arms, are completely styrene and scratch built...
