Cory Harvey 2009 – Star Wars – SCRATCH BUILT – Studio Scale X-Wing RED 5

It has been a while since we have shown more works from artist Cory Harvey (aka MensaBoy), so I thought I would bring forward this fantastic scratch built X-Wing that he created. Modelers Miniatures & Magic had originally shown this fine piece back on April 14, 2009. Inspired by all of the art works that he viewed by all of the other shown artists here on Modeler Magic, and all over the internet, Cory decided to make this fantastic model replica. He did an amazing job!

“An Easy Escape” – A Kuhn Global Composite

It has been a while since I have ventured into the Composite realm. That stated… I was digging through some old work and found one that needed improvement in a great way…. and this came of it. I used our studio scale MR Falcon.. along with a few studio scale TIE Fighters we have sitting around here.

This scene obviously takes place just after Luke and Han rescue Princess Leia from the Death Star in Episode 4… A New Hope.

I hope you enjoy it!

ANH Studio Scale Imperial TIE Fighter by Marc Elkins for the Kuhn Global/Modeler Magic Collection

TIE FIGHTERS ARE BLUE!!! No really… they ARE!! But not this time!

Marc Elkins did a fantastic job on this piece (as is his usual)!

In 1977, when Star Wars came out… everyone believed the TIE Fighter to be grey in color… because that is what the technology made them look like on screen! In fact… the actual filming models are blue. Not only have the original ILM builders confirmed it, but Modeler Magic proved it years ago by photographing the blue TIE under the same lighting used for the filming sequences. So the result? You guessed it… the TIE’s appeared to be grey!

That stated…. and since our collection shows the blue studio TIE Fighter (built by R.L...

Studio Scale ESB Imperial TIE FIGHTER by Richard Long

Richard Long has returned with this fantastic TIE Fighter, painted in it’s proper blue, for the Capt. Drew Sheppard Collection! Re-Painted and re-built from an unfortunate situation, Richard corrected this piece from the former  Cory Harvey Studio Tie Fighter Kit. This piece came out beautiful with all the markings hand painted on by Richard! Fantastic!

Studio Scale TIE FIGHTER by Marc Elkins

Built from the former Cory Harvey Studio Scale Tie Fighter Kit, Marc Elkins has again proven his amazing worth to this gallery. Everyone in model industry knows that all TIE Fighters were colored BLUE in all three films of the original Star Wars Trilogy. It wasn’t until the second film was released, the Empire Strikes Back, that they actually began to look blue on screen. The color difference was realized through the film making process. The color was debated for many years, even as ILM  artist Lorne Petersen stated they were blue. A number of years ago artist R.L. Bleecker built a studio TIE Fighter for this Gallery. He painted it the same blue that ILM did back in the 1970’s...

Studio Scale TIE Fighter by Mark Swilley

I have the honor of again introducing another fantastic artist to this Gallery… modeler Mark Swilley! Using the fantastic studio scale kit mastered by Cory Harvey (SEEN HERE), and sold by Monkey Works, modeler Mark Swilley did amazing work in his build of this fantastic piece! His choice of color is right on the money to the original studio models used in the filming even though they “look” Grey on screen. I love the way he lit the cockpit with the subtle red glow along with his twin ION engine lights! A beautiful job from modeler Mark Swilley! We look forward to showing more of his work in the near future!

OUT OF PRODUCTION!!! Studio Scale TIE Fighter KIT by Cory Harvey (MensaBoy)

Completely scratch mastered, then molded to be offered as a kit, professional modeler Cory Harvey has again outdone himself! This piece is built to replicate the original filming studio model with the exception of the wing strength modification being fiberglass instead of the koolshade originally used. Most parts of this kit were scratch built to match original parts used on the filming miniatures...
