The X-Files: Building the Truth, Brick by Brick (and Maybe Officially!)

The truth is out there… and now, it’s in LEGO form. For fans of The X-Files, the iconic 90s series that blended science fiction, horror, and conspiracy theories into a cultural phenomenon, this isn’t just a toy; it’s a meticulously crafted tribute. This LEGO set isn’t about simple playtime; it’s about diving back into the shadowy world of Mulder and Scully, piece by piece. And even more exciting? This incredible build by Brent Waller has a chance to become an official LEGO Ideas set!

Remember the thrill of the monster-of-the-week episodes, the creeping dread of the overarching alien conspiracy, the constant push and pull between Mulder’s unwavering belief and Scully’s grounded skepticism? This LEGO vignette captures it all...

Misa Nikolic – LEGO – Matt Jefferies – Star Trek: The Original Series – Concept Shuttle (aka Executive Shuttle, aka Aeroshuttle)

This craft is based on the original concept sketches by Matt Jefferies, which were abandoned due to the cost of constructing complex curves on a TV budget. First designed as a digital model in 2010, it was built in 2019 with minor changes to fit the scale of the boxy Class F shuttle (and to fit on the landing pad). The cabin accommodates five with a clamshell hatch, and the roof can be removed for access. Unlike the Class F shuttle there is no bathroom or engineering bay, but a much larger warp core and impulse manifold, providing greater delta-V and better atmospheric handling than other shuttle types. I chose the livery based on the “DaVinci” shuttle that appeared in the remastered episode “The Menagerie”.

Garry King – Star Wars – Lego – OVER 106″ (1:592.5) Star Destroyer!

NEVER BEFORE IN TASMANIA HAS THERE BEEN A STAR DESTROYER OF THIS SIZE AND SCALE BUILT FROM LEGO ELEMENTS.

SCALE 1:592.5

AS A PRIVATELY BUILT AND OWNED AND NON-COMMERCIAL STAR DESTROYER. IT IS CURRENTLY THE LARGEST KNOWN ON THIS PLANET AS FAR AS I COULD FIND ON THE INTERNET AS OF THE TIME OF COMPLETION.

WE ALL KNOW STAR WARS AND THIS ICONIC MODELS NONE MORE SO THAN THE ISD. THIS IS NO EXCEPTION, JUST ANOTHER STAR DESTROYER….

SOME FACTS BEHIND THIS BUILD

THE BRIDGE SECTION I SAW ON THE INTERNET AS A L.D.D. ( LEGO DIGITAL DESIGN ) AND IT WAS SUPERIMPOSED ONTO A STUDIO MODEL OF A STAR DESTROYER, THAT SPARKED MY INTEREST.

SOMETIME LATER I SAW A 5 FOOT LEGO STAR DESTROYER WITH SOME VERY NICE TURBO LASER CANONS ON IT.

I TOOK A FEW IMAGES OF BOTH OFF THE INTERNET AND JUST BY LOOKING I MANAGED TO ...

Misa Nikolic – Lego Digital Designer – Star Trek III – 1/39 Spacedock Tug / Orbital Shuttle

This is the Spacedock Tug / Orbital Shuttle first seen in Star Trek III in 1984. I first made a version of this craft in 2013 in Lego Digital Designer, but completely revised it in 2019 for a real-life build. It is a challenging model to capture accurately in bricks, given the many complex curves. It is minifig scale (about 1:39) and, given its small size, totally swooshable with one hand (sound effects optional). With two custom figures it is 322 pieces, measuring 28 studs in length (about 8.8″ or 22 cm).

Misa Nikolic – LEGO Design – 2001: A Space Odyssey – 17″ MOONBUS

I have been designing Lego science fiction models for about 12 years, mostly in Lego Digital Designer, but in the last two years I have been building real brick models. Most of it is Star Trek with a smattering of other themes.

Today I am showing my largest model to date, the Moonbus from 2001: A Space Odyssey. I first designed it in 2016 and finally built it this year. The model is about 17″ long with over 1400 pieces (53 studs long, 24 studs wide). The scale is a bit bigger than Minifig scale, maybe 1:35 (normally I stay strictly to 1:39, so 1 stud=1 foot). The roof lifts off in two sections and the ramp stows neatly in the floor.

Garry King – Star Wars WIP (Sneak Preview) – World’s Largest Known (Privately Built) LEGO Star Destroyer at over 106 Inches (2700mm)!

Here are some progress photos of the Star Destroyer. Currently the measurements are:

  • 2700mm long X 1676mm wide X 880mm high
  • 106 5/12 ” LONG X 66 ” wide X 34 5/8 ” high

I have not been able to find another larger that is not commercially created. So right now I will say it is the largest privately created Star Destroyer and I hope soon someone else will prove me wrong and proudly display theirs on the internet for all to admire.
I hope you enjoy the sneak preview
Cheers from Tasmania.
