Collector and Artist Michael Hawes came into this art form like the fast winds of a Hurricane! His contributions have been amazing in not only commissioning amazing artists, and obtaining the wonderful pieces that are now shown in his Star Destroyer-like Gallery, but also starting the fantastic video channel on You Tube of COLLECTION WARS, along with Gabe Estrada. He is helping this art form in keeping it in the eyes of the world, then bringing joy to everyone that has the opportunity to view it all. Just look at some of the newer pieces he has just added.. like the NICE-N Model Designs Studio Scale SLAVE ONE (Built by Mike Salzo!), or the fantastic FULL SIZE Imperial Probe Droid that Mike and his Daughter are shown assembling in the photos! So amazing…I LOVE IT!

The Studio Scale Escape Pod was an original run, Nice-N Model Designs resin kit. Some parts were replaced with vintage kit parts, especially in the engine section, including copies of the original Sealab III hoses. This was on-and-off the bench for years before completion in 2019.

This is a very accurate filming miniature replica of the Original 1977 Star Wars Star Destroyer “Devastator” seen in the opening shots and throughout the film. It’s a little over 4 feet long, and is a near PART for PART recreation of the original model. Using references directly from the original model, all details have been re-created. The basic structure leverages an existing kit armature and acrylic. From the basic structure, just about everything else is scratch built including the entire ‘bridge’ section and most of the ‘superstructure’. Construction took almost 2 years off/on again efforts. Over 150 unique model kits were used for this build, and several, sometimes 5 or six of the same kits parts were used...

Y-wings are one of the best sci-fi designs ever created in my opinion. This beautiful piece by professional artist Dean Dymerski was built from a NICE-N Model Design Kit (which at the time was the same kit parts Master Replica used for their own “finished model” release back then). Today, NICE-N Model Designs has since perfected their Y-Wing replica kit. As for this model build shown here, Dean did outstanding work, inspiring many others that would come for years after in their own builds!

We have shown when artist/collector Michael Hawes began his journey to create a Gallery that look like a Star Destroyer’s interior. We then showed some of the pieces that are shown there today. Recently, Michael sent me these photos that show some of the pieces in high resolution, and also give a person a chance to view the Gallery, and its “ranch” style STAR WARS entrance gate. Impressive! The works of many amazing world-class artists can be seen as they are shown on the Gallery floor and walls. I have no appropriate words, except for one… FANTASTIC!
