It is a great thing to witness when a studio scale TIE Fighter is built using the original KOOL SHADE for it’s wings. It has become difficult to find the original Kool Shade. The company now makes the metal material with the louvers spread further apart…. which changes the look slightly. Chris managed to find some Kool Shade to build this magnificent studio scale TIE Fighter, which is a RE-BUILD mostly from an original ICONS REPLICAS model. It will go along nicely with the studio scale Darth Vader TIE Fighter X-1 (VIEW HERE) that Chris is selling as this goes up to be seen.

Like Captain Cardboard’s original release (starting the studio scale X-Wing craze as he did) this also has direct lineage, through ICONS, back to an original PYRO studio model used in 1977’s Star Wars. This is not the HERO Kit that is sold by MSLZ22 Models (Mike Salzo), and it is not the same as Captain Cardboard’s release either, but a NEWLY CREATED pattern, based on the old ICONS pattern...

We all drooled over the repaint that Seam did on him ICONS (SEEN HERE). Now after a few weeks he has come forward to show his repaint  on the wing markings, making them more accurate to the studio models! Take a look!

The ICONS X-Wing pretty much started it all for this entire community! WE LOVE THEM!! That stated, their paint jobs were a bit challenged as noted by Sean, but as you can see, he managed to bring his model to life! A beautiful paint job Sean!

Thank you for your wonderful site! You see, I have had this old Icons bird with me since 1996. As much as I
love the cast, I was never impressed with the paint job. Realizing after all these years that I’m probably never going to part with it, I figured that it’d be fun thing to do to give it a fresh coat of paint and some proper weathering.

I’m not a professional model maker and am useless with the airbrush, but the great thing about the X-wing is that it’s pretty much all about how beat up you can make it look...

We all know the talent of Daniel Beck.. and this X-Wing is no different! This is beautiful! And done with the ICONS X-Wing too!

Here is a small new project. The original is an ICON X-Wing. This was a case of transport damage and had to be rebuilt. He got a new paint, a new base, and lighting effects.

This Version 1 (V1) Cylon Raider Studio Scale replica was masterfully built and painted by R.L. Bleecker in 2006. The studio scale kit itself was mastered off an original pyro model (used in the 1978 series) that we believe may have cast from what ICONS Replicas once sold as a Studio Scale Replica from Battlestar Galactica. Artist Mark Dickson, under Jim Key’s company, made it so. Later on, this would become a Kit which would be sold by Jesse Meyers, and then by Kit and Pattern maker Mike Salzo (MSLZ22 Models). Today the kit is sold by Kit Maker Jason Wright of JAWS Models in Australia.
