I have the great pleasure of introducing artist Wayne Minney to this gallery. His work on this Round 2 (AMT/Ertl) Enterprise 1701-D is one of the BEST I have ever seen! Painted as the “Generations” version… Wayne’s paint up is spectacular! He even managed to get the GOLD of the Nacelle Grills correct for the ‘static’ model while unlit! Most simply accept the blue that comes with the kit now-days. Each marking is beautiful with this piece that took a few years to complete. Had he used an armature in order to keep the saucer on, this could have been filmed today! Also… I am informed that Wayne MAY SELL THIS PIECE to the right Collector should they happen along!! See info below!!
Here is my recently completed Enterprise D as seen in “Generations.” It was built from the 1/1400 scale clear edition re-release AMT kit and quite heavily modified using some aftermarket photoetch parts, some scratchbuilt additions and some alterations to more accurately recreate the 6′ filming miniature, as seen in the movie “Star Trek Generations.” The model took about 16-17 months to complete from start to finish (with a few breaks for the sake of my sanity!)
The model is fully lighted with cabin lights, screen accurate position marker strobe effects, warp engines, main impulse engine and deflector dish. The cabin lights on the saucer section are lit in the same positions as seen on screen.
The complex aztec paint scheme was airbrushed using 4 colour tones, 2 shades of blue and 2 shades of buff/grey, and the pattern was replicated as closely as possible using reference pictures of the filming miniature.
