I finished this piece last summer and was fortunate to be able to show the display at the 2015 jersey fest where it took a 3rd place best ship in show. The ship was finished using a stippling technique to achieve the color variation with the addition of visible battle damage on the port side of the ship. The dark lines and small details were hand painted with an overall flat finish. The desert base is constructed of building insulation board and shaped with a hot knife. The ship is fitted to the base to appear as if it plowed into the earth upon crashing (famous scene when Will Smith welcomes the alien to earth). This unique model is currently for sale on the Starburst Models web site for $1,300.00 to all who are interested.
