June 28, 2014 UPDATE!!

New Painting Class at Jerseyfest – “Painting a Death Dealer” Model !

This new model painting class will be held on Friday, August 1st from 11:00am to 4:30pm in a professional conference room at the Marriott Hanover Hotel.  It is occurring the day before the weekend long Jerseyfest vendor show begins.  The cost is an incredibly low $100 for everything.  The class is tailored for both beginner and experienced modelers.

Here is an excellent opportunity to take a professional painting class produced by “Smooth On” and Jerseyfest that’s an incredible bargain.  Expert painter Saul Alvarez will provide step-by-step instructions on how to paint a stunning “Death Dealer” model using various hand painting techniques (no airbrush).  The 12 inch high bust was sculpted by Chris Gabrish and made available by Chris and Dead End Resin.  Each attendee will receive, paint and get to take home this gorgeous solid resin kit that normally costs $125 unbulit.  The model will be built prepped, primed and ready to paint when you get to the class.  We will provide the supplies and paints you need to complete the kit during the class – yes you will complete it by the end of the day!  There is nothing for you to bring other than your passion to paint the model.  If you would like to join us, please register for this class as soon as possible to secure a spot since we are very close to showtime.  Below is a picture of the Death Dealer bust painted by the instructor, Saul Alvarez – click here for more pictures.

June 21, 2014 UPDATE!!

Those attending Jerseyfest this year are in store for an incredible opportunity to meet and experience a presentation from one of the greatest FX, Stop Motion and Model Making legends in motion picture history. We just added “Phil Tippet” to our guest line up and we could not be more thrilled!
Phil’s varied career in visual effects has spanned more than 30 years and includes 2 Academy Awards, 6 Academy Award nominations, 1 BAFTA, 4 BAFTA nominations, 2 Emmys and the advent of modern digital effects in motion pictures. Phil’s roots in stop motion, modeling and practical effects and his ability to use this foundation in conjunction with developing technologies has made him one of a handful of artists whose careers have spanned the transition of visual effects from largely practical to digital. His past work includes the Star Wars Trilogy with ”Industrial Light & Magic Studios” (e.g., Imperial Walkers, Tauntauns, Rancor, Jabba the Hut, , etc.), Jurassic Park, the new Jurassic World movie, Dragonslayer, Robocop, Starship Troopers, etc. See more of Phil’s biography here: (CLICK HERE)

Phil recently formed a partnership with Chronicle Collectibles (CLICK HERE) on their “Legacy Series”, consisting of very fine collectible models for sale to the public. Chronicle will have a dazzling display of incredible pieces at Jerseyfest 2014, which will be for sale in very limited quantities. Their philosophy is to engage the living legends of Sci-Fi Art and Design, and involve them in every step of development. They access their decades of experience to guide their products. Chronicle sees these partnerships as the most direct and objective way to create art editions that maintain the integrity of the artists’ techniques and ideas.
