Anthony Santos – 2010:The Year We Make Contact – LEONOV

I hope you all are well during these crazy times.

I finally got to scan some old photos of the Leonov that I made from scratch back in 1986/87. It took a year and four months to complete. It was airbrushed with tempera and dry brushed with black and white wash. The two small dishes where made from a Ping-Pong ball. The docking ring, the large dish and cabins are poseable. At 4ft. long it is still the largest model I have ever made. This model was made on a “dare” from an old high school friend who lent me his Cinefex and 2010 magazine special. He also taught me how to paint it. To him I say,…”Thanks Rudy!”
