Steve Hughes of Third Fate Creations is a magnificent artist! Every piece he shows here on Modeler Magic I cannot help to appreciate as his paint schemes alone are beautiful! And that is not even mentioning the build! Enjoy this newest piece from Steve Hughes!

This is a 1:100 scale Metal Gear REX from Kotobukiya. The second mech I got for my birthday a few months ago. I loved the design of the mech and its departure from classical biped mecha to a more segmented articulate design. Though when I first looked at it after assembling I thought “funky chicken” All the poses I saw for it online were so static, and it seemed a shame for such an articulate model to be stuck in poses that lacked any sense of dynamic action. So…. I asked myself, Just how scary might it be if something this flipping tall were running full tilt. I think that alone would send most adversaries running so I modeled and painted it accordingly and populated the base with some 15mm scale troop minis from ClearHorizon Miniatures. I think they really help give this terror a sense of scale and menace. Nothing makes you lose it like something several stories tall taking strides larger than your house. It puts Futile into a whole new perspective.
