Mike Salzo (MSLZ22 Models) – Star Wars: A New Hope – Building the Death Star (PART 2) for the Michael Hawes Collection

As this piece continues to come to life… I must say that artist Mike Salzo (of MSLZ22 Models) is truly doing this miniature the justice it requires to have that certain “look” that was attained by ILM for the 1977 film STAR WARS! Some of the of the features that are quite noticeable when attempting to make something as huge as the Death Star look real as the straight lines around the sphere. Just look at the subtle panel lines Mike has drawn on, and the straightness of the shining windows! Mike is using the same paint effects as used on the original, making the surface look ‘busy’ with city-like details, giving it the scale it requires for the illusion of it’s mass. Brilliant work! Artist and Collector Michael Hawes is thrilled with how this is turning out,.. and so am I! I look forward to showing the final piece. OUTSTANDING!
