In 2015 I went to visit artist Marc Elkins (has it been 5 years already?!). He told me he had begin work on something I would appreciate much. Marc is already known for building the world’s largest Battlestar Replica, and a 6 foot Star Destroyer, among other amazing gems that I drool over…. so I knew I was in for a fantastic surprise. He opened his garage and there it was… the start of a studio scale (8 foot) Star Destroyer… which was to be Avenger at the time. He showed me how many kits he had to purchase (which filled his car) and then also showed me the armature. He placed some of the acrylic panels upon the framed armature that were scribed already with the details of the vessel. Outstanding! He told me he was in no rush to make it, and it would be done as time permitted. Skipping forward, recently, Marc emailed me photos of his trench detail work, and the superstructure that sits atop of the model with the Bridge. It is thrilling to view. Marc is building this to spec of the original built for The Empire Strikes Back. I am very excited to see this completed. Also, Marc expressed emphatically that this model is not for sale, and shall adorn his own amazing collection. Marc is doing amazing work!
