Here is another piece that I recently finished. This is my rendering of the Toy Biz Hulk diorama. Some of the Toy Biz kits lack detail but I thought this one showed promise. With a lot of filling and sanding after the eighteen parts that make up the figure were assembled and several light primer coats the hulk was looking pretty good. I wanted to give as much realism as possible to the diorama so all of the wreckage was given a enamel steel base coat and then left to dry for a few days. Later I applied an acrylic paint with iron particles suspended within the base and vinegar to activate the rusting process. I think it gives a great effect. The ground base was sprayed and shaded in Tamiya acrylic and later over coated with Testors dull coat. The Hulk was pre-shaded prior to painting with water base acrylic. Dark pigments were applied to all of the low areas of the muscles and a light gloss applied to only the skin area for a somewhat sweaty look. I was very pleased overall with the piece as it is a first attempt with a figure of this type. The model is on display at Willis Hobby and (Steve) the shop owner was blown away with it and immediately placed it in his main showcase. Well enough of my rambling. The Hulk is up for sale to any interested party for $250.00 and will soon be posted to the starburstmodels site.
