Shown here back in 2008, then again in Sept. 2010 after I gave this to Tom DeSanto….. this is a Piece of Galactica History. It is, in fact, the Tom DeSanto / Bryan Singer Continuation Series Colonial Viper that never came to be. This one is officially scaled in 1/24 and named the Mk IV Advanced Colonial Viper.

This piece was built by artist David Martis, which came out very well considering the challenges of the cast parts produced. The story is below…

How this Model Came to Exist…

While in the planning stages, Producer Tom DeSanto had originally contacted Michael Miles Artistry to develop his (DeSanto’s) newly designed “advanced” Viper for the Continuation Series calling it the Mk IV...

We all know not very many of these 31 inch Vipers exist. Formerly a kit offered by MSLZ22 Models, famed artist Jason Eaton has now sold his fantastic build to Collector Hector Rosales! As you can see… the smile of Hectors face tells it all! This piece is beautiful, from the main kit, to the fantastic custom electronic additions and finish by Jason. Simply fantastic! Sitting at approximately 20 pounds, this was built with a metal armature, sturdy resin and epoxy construction!

As promised that we would be showing more of the “off the shelf” professional kit builds, here is the next in line. Built from the old Revell Monogram kit, professional modeler Chris Lai made this piece look like a Studio Filming miniature! His use of paneled weathering is fantastic as is the finish of the piece! Very nice indeed, again showing that one doesn’t absolutely need to have an expensive studio scaled kit in order to have a very nice collection displayed!

Here’s a funny “What If?” build by myself, and the model club I am in which started this build years ago. So, what if the Battlestar Galactica came to Earth in the early 80s and was incorporated into the American way of life? As such, I made a NASCAR sponsored Wrangler Viper in a pit stall, complete with support vehicles and pit crew!

Lots of scratch building, this was the first re-release viper with an aftermarket resin cockpit detail set, and all the crew were an Israeli tank crew set.

Everyone knows what a Colonial Viper looks like, but not many have seen the fantastic McQuarrie Concept other than what we had shown you here earlier when Richard was making this fantastic kit. What a sleek, mean looking fighter this is! I love Richard’s Galactica decal markings he placed on it! These kits are VERY limited at a total of only 7 being made to sell. In other words… HIGHLY collectible! Not to mention… just a bad ass fighter kit! A beautiful job by industry famed artist Richard Long!

Built from the amazing MOEBIUS Models kit, artist Keith Sullivan again brings us a beautiful build! This time, Starbuck’s Viper Mk II is on the Landing Deck in pristine condition… right off the Museum floor. I especially love the piping added to the engine areas, and the diorama backdrop! Fantastic work!
