“… The Harder They Fall!” – Composite by Kurt Kuhn (Kuhn Global)

I was fixing the broken feature image links, and I thought I would bump this one from 2013.

****

Wow… it has been quite a while since I did one of these, and this is a piece I had promised I would do after the Mega AT-AT was built, but found little time to do so. However… I was restless the other night and finally made it happen! I apologize if it is noticed to be rushed…… after all… in my best typed Yoda…. human I am!

Utilizing the Blue Screen photos of  The Mega AT-AT and the 1:22 Snowspeeder (both of which were built by artist Marc Elkins for our Modeler Magic Display), then using a 720P screen capture or three from The Empire Strikes Back, I was able to make this new scene happen!

Finding the right screen capture was truly needed for this to come off looking as if it truly were a scen...

Cooper Mod: DEVASTATOR by Marc Elkins for the Kuhn Global / Modeler Magic Collection

Randy Cooper blew everyone away when he came out with his 3 foot Avenger kit! Unitilizing Randy’s great kit, artist Marc Elkins has been working diligently, transforming the excellent Cooper kit into the DEVASTATOR, but with idealized parts to match up with Avenger a bit more than the 3 foot filming model. The filming miniature was built to show from only one side, and was not detailed like the Avenger 8 foot model that would eventually be built and used in ESB. I wanted something to show that would incorporate what Devastator would have looked like had it been built as an 8 foot model along side the Avenger...

Marc Elkins’ Huge 84 Inch Galactica – Killer Photos

OK…. I went nuts over these photos that Marc sent me of his Galactica in the shadows of his man cave. This is the largest Battlestar Galactica model in known existence and these photos absolutely show it’s amazing and precise details to the world! Though this isn’t lit in these photos, this Galactica has the full lighting package, and even the proper landing bay slide inside, not to menation a special feature Marc added of an underside docking back in the star! Very soon, this piece MAY be joining the Kuhn Global / Modeler Magic collection for all to view. This piece is jaw-dropping COOL!! Thanks for sharing these photos Marc!

RED 4 “John D.” Studio X-Wing by Marc Elkins & Dan Grumeretz for the KuhnGlobal/ModelerMagic Collection

Red 4, along with Red 6, is one of the most elusive paint schemes for the X-Wing. This one was painted as a direct replica of the original filming miniature used in 1977’s Star Wars!  With the final wings placed on by Dan Grumeretz, this fantastic piece was built and painted by artist Marc Elkins! The A New Hope X-Wing squadron is now complete and can be seen in the collection of Kuhn Global / Modeler’s Miniatures and Magic. Photographing these birds with their accurate paint schemes (or as accurate as anyone on the world can get them from the actual studio model photos) was a complete pleasure...

RED 6 “Porkins” Studio X-Wing by Marc Elkins & Dan Grumeretz for the KuhnGlobal/ModelerMagic Collection

Red 6, along with Red 4 are the two elusive X-Wing paint jobs from 1977’s Star Wars – A New Hope. Using photo reference of the original SIX X-wings used in the original Star Wars, artist Marc Elkins painstakingly made this RED 6 replica outstanding. (Of course with the angles we had of this reference, some of this paint scheme was estimated, and is as close ans anyone in the world could be). With only the assist of artist Dan Grumeretz to place the wings on when we received the build, this piece now completes the entire X-Wing squadron for the Kuhn Global/Modeler Magic Collection as they were seen in 1977’s Star Wars! The only differences are the R2 unit in the original model is now the R5 unit that we saw in the full sized prop the actor playing Porkins showed behind him...

DEVASTATOR Fiber Optic Frenzy! WIP by Marc Elkins

Artist Marc Elkins makes his anticipated return with this magnificent update showing the thousands upon thousands of fiber optic strands he is inserting into the Kuhn Global/Modeler Magic Star Destroyer DEVASTATOR! With all the great SD builds out there, we felt it important to place in as many smaller fibers as Marc could do in order to promote the size of the Destroyer when we place it on film. Being modified from the Randy Cooper Kit of the Avenger, this is the Devastator, with much more detail for photographing. Most likely as it would have been if George Lucas would have used it more in the films. Marc is doing fantastic work as usual. This project will be picked up from Marc’s shop in the middle of Sept...

Star Trek III Enterprise 1701 by Marc Elkins & Sean Sides from the Karl Southcott Collection

Karl Southcott now owns a beautiful build of what we saw in the beginning of Star Trek III The Search for Spock! The battle damaged Enterprise as it entered the Space Dock to be repaired! These photos are of the starboard side that is rarely remembered as also being damaged in the Mutara Nebula Battle with Khan, yet is was! Famed artist Marc Elkins first built this as a static model from the Polar Lights kit. When Karl Southcott purchased it from him, the piece went to another famed artist, Sean Sides, to be made into the battle damaged beauty! Some great work by amazing artists for a fantastic collection!

ALMOST DONE!! 6 Foot AVENGER – Upgrade WIP from the Michael Plante Collection

HOLY DETAILS BATMAN! The Marc Elkins 6 foot Avenger is nearly completed with the lighting that has been added since collector Michael Plante acquired the piece from Marc this last winter! As you can see.. this piece is one of a kind, and beautiful in every way! Over 3,000 feet of fiber optics went into this model!! This is what a $50,000 model looks like folks! Perfect, with detail one can appreciate up close! Michael is personally reviewing the build for possible pick up immediately! I am hoping to get some photos of this piece in front of our Blue Screen, but Modeler Magic will be going to Michael’s Collection area to do so if he agrees. Cross your fingers! Congratulations to Michael, Marc and the rest of the crew that made this piece come to life! You know who you are!
