Shown here back in 2008, then again in Sept. 2010 after I gave this to Tom DeSanto….. this is a Piece of Galactica History. It is, in fact, the Tom DeSanto / Bryan Singer Continuation Series Colonial Viper that never came to be. This one is officially scaled in 1/24 and named the Mk IV Advanced Colonial Viper.

This piece was built by artist David Martis, which came out very well considering the challenges of the cast parts produced. The story is below…

How this Model Came to Exist…

While in the planning stages, Producer Tom DeSanto had originally contacted Michael Miles Artistry to develop his (DeSanto’s) newly designed “advanced” Viper for the Continuation Series calling it the Mk IV...

Artists Alexander Rivera and Eric Chu have teamed up to produce a number if models of the FS-1 Flying Sub in time for 2012 Wonderfest! Below are the main orthos for that model that Eric penned.

The model will be 1/32 scale, fiberglass hulls with resin details, lights and motor propellers. A run of 25 will be produced on an order by order basis. This will be a finished collectible, ready to display. For information please e-mail me at falcondesigns@aol.com

This short film is fantastic! Sent to me by the designer of the Ron Moore Battlestar Galactica, artist Eric Chu, this has to be one of my favorite fan made sequences! I recognize some of the Battlestar designs as being for our shown artist TAN.J… who is a fantastic artist. Built from the outstanding  Moebius kit, artist Chris Hall made this piece to look like “Capt. Apollo’s” full sized prop Viper seen HERE. I especially love how he photographed it to be on the landing deck of the Galactica! Nicely done!

Using the Kuhn Global Blue Screen photos of the 4 beautiful DeSanto Continuation Viper builds… (Seen HERE built by R.L. Bleecker from the MoonBase Models kit), and using a fantastic shot of the TOS Ship of Lights provided by Mr. Mark Dickson, master artist Peter Noble made this fantastic scene for all to enjoy! He made an earlier version that had the Ship of Lights the proper color …. seen HERE.

After receiving an email from Frank Winspur of MOEBIUS MODELS asking if I had access to reference of the MK VII Landing Gear, I immediately called a few people that always come through. Frank Cerney, Morton Moeslund and Jared Bronson. Frank and Moe had the CG model renders (designed by Eric Chu) for the gear, while Jared Bronson (of SpaceMind Modeler) came through with these photos of the full sized prop used for the movies and series Battlestar Galactica. The photos were taken at the auction. All the reference material then went to industry famed master artist Gary Kerr to blueprint for the kit...

When Tom DeSanto and Bryan Singer got together to do a Continuation Series (long before the highly successful Ron Moore Re-do), Mr. DeSanto had an artist design this new Viper for the show that never was. After meeting a modeler name Michael Miles he decided to let Mr. Miles take the lead in developing the model for eventual release. This is one of those models. Not many exist as the whole venture went poorly. I originally had ordered a squadron, which turned into only three of which I gave two away to friends. One of which has now returned to the collection. Built by industry famed R.L. Bleecker, this “challenged” casting turned out quite beautiful. The collection now holds SIX of these DeSanto Vipers…...

Here is another great piece from professional artist Peter Noble. Using the blue screen photos of the Mk IV Continuation Vipers (originally designed for DeSanto’s Continuation Film) seen HERE (built by master builder R.L. Bleecker from the Moonbase Model Kits), Mr Noble was able to create this never before viewed scene of the new Blue Squadron encountering the Light Ship! A beautiful piece from Peter Noble!

Designed for Tom DeSanto, patterns made by Michael Miles and Coby Lorang, then made into a workable kit by Gil Brumana of Moonbase Models, professional modeler R.L. Bleecker joins the ranks of Studio Model Collectors with his own build of the beautiful Galactica Continuation Viper! As usual, his use of weathering is second to none which bring out the subtle Grey paint job to be dynamic! Another beautiful piece from master artist R.L. Bleecker!

These beautiful photos were contributed by Jared Bronson (of Spacemind Modeler) to be shown here in their full glory. The Cylon Raider was designed by ERIC CHU. The photos were taken while these filming props were being auctioned by the studios. A lucky few now own them! Fear not, however. We intend on having FULL SIZED props built for the Gallery as well.
