Building the Studio Scale TANTIVE “Blockade Runner” – PART 3 – by Lasse Henning

Lasse Henning… a name associated with world class art! Today he shows one of his masterful videos that is PART 3 in the series of his documenting his amazing build of the Studio Scale Blockade Runner TANTIVE from 1977’s Star Wars. One think I very much like about this build is the fact that he has done much of this with his son. Lasse has not only proven to be an amazing artist in several ways, but also a fantastic father… and an accomplished film maker! View part 1 HERE, and part 2 HERE.

Here is what Lasse has to say…

The second video installment (yet third coverage installment) covering the making of my studio scale Tantive IV from Star Wars – A New Hope. The video focuses more on the mood of the build rather than any single technical aspect.

RED LEADER – Composite Art by Kurt Kuhn (Kuhn Global)

Here is a composite using the fantastic Studio Red Leader X-Wing by R.L. Bleecker, and the giant 1:18 Darth Vader X-1 TIE Fighter in the Last Battle scene where Red Leader finishes his trench run on the attacking Death Star, only to be destroyed by Darth Vader a few seconds later. A dramatic pivot point of the story, placing Luke in charge of the final attack to destroy the Death Star before it destroys the Rebel Base on the fourth moon of Yavin.

Built from the original Captain Cardboard kit (Atomic City Models), professional artist has made this piece a near perfect replica of the RED 5 Studio Model used in Star Wars – A New Hope! This truly is one of the best RED 5 paint jobs I have seen to date. And… Chris is offering to build TWO MORE for any Collectors wanting to have a beautiful replica for their display. Chris even placed the smoke colored glass in the canopy just like the original model that was first displayed by this Gallery HERE. 27 Inch Blockade Runner by Stefan Hacker

Long before Stefan built his 1:350 Runner… he built the beautiful Randy Cooper kit to look like a filming miniature! His weathering is, as usual, masterful as is the fit and finish! I am a huge fan of professional artist Stefan Hacker!

Stefan Hacker’s 1:350 CR-90 Blockade Runner Photographed by Corinna Koitek

A few days ago we showed Professional Artist Stefan Hacker’s beautiful scratch build of his 1:350 Blockade Runner. Upon speaking with him regarding newer photos to use in composites, I am pleased to announce another great artist’s works to this Gallery… Photographer Corinna Koitek!  Her work, which was checked by another great artist…Seabastian Birk, is absolutely fantastic! She captured the “Star Wars” lighting look fantastically, giving the model depth, size, and dramatic entrance to viewers! Her photos of the Blockade Runner will be very easy to place in Composites for new action scenes.. or simply for different perspectives of scenes we already know. Beautiful work by all involved!

1:350 CR-90 Corellian Blockade Runner by Stefan Hacker

This beautiful piece was scratch built by master modeler Stefan Hacker! The detail is OUTSTANDING as is the fit and finish of this well known design! At 1:350 scale it is about 8-9 inches shorter than the 27 inch Randy Cooper kit, but is to scale with so many popular kits it may be displayed next to! I absolutely love what Stefan has done here. Fantastic work!

Collector Alert!! SANDTROOPER Helmet from eFX Collectibles

Stormtroopers are one of the most recognized symbols of Palpatine’s mighty Imperial forces. Legions of troops occupied worlds throughout the galaxy, from the vacuum of space to the frigid ice planet Hoth to the desert climate of Tatooine. The Empire trained specialized units equipped to withstand the many diverse climates of the known universe, all to maintain tyrannical order throughout t the galaxy.

Sandtroopers were specialized stormtroopers deployed to Tatooine in search of droids C-3PO and R2-D2. Their armor, although visually similar to standard Imperial stormtroopers, had an advanced cooling system in both helmet and suit, necessary for such a harsh climate...

T-16 Skyhopper – Scratch Built by Brad Dillon

Everyone remembers the scene in Star Wars where c3Po is getting his oil bath while Luke asks him questions about where he and R2-D2 came from. Everyone also remembers that while asking these questions, Luke was playing with a model of his own…. of THIS vehicle…. the  T-16. Using photographs of the studio model, Professional Modeler Brad Dillon made this piece from scratch… and what a great job he did!
