Dave Olszewski – SMT – STAR WARS – 1:48 Y-WING

Here is my build up of an old SMT 1/48 Y-Wing (from Star Wars). I liked the red markings from the “Red Jammer” studio model, so I painted markings for this as if it were from “Red Squadron”. The “Death Star” base is that from the AMT / ERTL tie fighters kit with a lot of extra “greeblies” from my spare parts stash.

Thanks,
Dave Olszewski

John Simmons – John Stuart – Korbanth – STAR WARS CONCEPT – 1:144 Blockade Runner “PIRATE SHIP” Millennium Falcon!

This is Brilliant! I love it! We shall be showing John Stuart’s photos of this piece as well very soon.

We are pretty much done with the 1/144 41” Blockade Runner dressed up as the ‘Pirate Ship’, which was the original design for the Millennium Falcon before Space 1999 got in the way lol. John Stuart (Jaitea) built the model for me from the Korbanth 1/144 Blockade Runner Kit, scratch building what was needed to change it into the “Pirate Ship Concept”, and then I finished it in Archive X paints.

Mystery 10’s Jason Eaton, with Josh Maruska and Andre Bustanoby – STAR WARS – 1:12 and 1:24 X-Wing.. Work in Progress, Part 1

Having had access to the original X-Wing, and the Lucasfilm Archives, artist’s Jason Eaton, Josh Maruska, and Andre Bustanoby, are creating one of the most beautiful X-Wings I believe I have seen to date. They are creating this by utilizing the digital build, and then 3D Printing the parts to make both the 1/24 scale and 1/12scale physical models! Improving upon the original studio scale model “look”, they are adding in an amazing new Cockpit and Pilot figure. We will show more on this amazing X-Wing Project as they move forward with it. Here is what Jason has to say of this thus far of the Cockpit and Pilot Figure…

This is my friend Chris flying the X-Wing, in case you were wondering what is happening...

Mike Salzo – Michael Hawes’ DEATH STAR – COMPLETED!

Artist Mike Salzo recently completed this amazing scratch built DEATH STAR for the Michael Hawes Collection. Shown here today are photos of the model (taken by Mike Salzo) and also the model on display (taken by Michael Hawes). I am extremely impressed with the surface details Mike placed onto this piece, not to mention the very straight drilled lighting holes. Amazing! I know that Michael Hawes is thrilled with this creation, and he is proud to display this amazing piece created by Mike Salzo.

Hello Michael Hawes,

Your DEATHSTAR is “…Impressive, most impressive”.
You likely have created one of the most effective personal STAR WARS display galleries I’ve ever encountered. It definitely looks like a labor of love of yours. It’s a clean professional presentation, well done sir! 👍

Guy Cowen 2009 – Alfred Wong – Robert Burns – Star Wars: Return of the Jedi – 1:24 B-WING

Originally shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on March 11, 2009… I though this may be a great mode to revisit from artist Guy Cowen! Built from the Robert Burns Kit (which was patterned by Alfred Wong), this piece turned out fantastic! Guy truly brought this model to life. Today, this 1:24 B-Wing has been improved upon by Alfred Wong and is now offered through KORBANTH Models.

Kenneth Gogan 2009 – Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back – Battle on HOTH Diorama

This diorama by artist Kenneth Gogan is wonderful! This was actually shown on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on March 31, 2009. We have seen a few Hoth Battle dioramas and it is always great to see the different aspects that artists place into them. Ken scratch built the small Snowspeeders to be in scale with the MPC Imperial Walker (AT-AT) Kits. I love smoke coming from Luke’s crashed Snowspeeder. Beautifully done!

The FX Company – Randy Cooper Models – Star Wars: A New Hope – 27″ Blockade Runner “TANTIVE IV”

I remember when Randy Cooper created and released this kit. It was, and still is amazing… not to mention it’s size! When the FX Company got their hands on it, and then showed it here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on April 2, 2009, their artists (apprenticing under John Eblan) did a wonderful job in re-creating this Star Wars icon. They even placed lighting in the lase turrets! Nicely done!

Lasse Henning 2009 – STAR WARS – Kuhn Global’s 1:18 Darth Vader TIE Fighter X-1 … Blue Screen Photos by Kuhn Global (Kurt Kuhn)

In June 2009, famed artist Lasse Henning created an amazing kit in 1/18 scale! Of note: This 1/18 size I have always referred to as “Super Scale”, with anything larger as being “Mega Scale”. When I first came into this art form, one of the first artists I came to appreciate and watch frequently was Lasse Henning. His work inspired nearly everything I have in the collection today that has been created by equally appreciated and fantastic artists world-wide. Lasse has always amazed me with his work, and continues to do so today. I have known him now for two decades (20 years), and my jaw still drops when he creates something new. We had originally shown this beautiful model here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on August 19, 2009...

Cory Harvey 2009 – Star Wars – SCRATCH BUILT – Studio Scale X-Wing RED 5

It has been a while since we have shown more works from artist Cory Harvey (aka MensaBoy), so I thought I would bring forward this fantastic scratch built X-Wing that he created. Modelers Miniatures & Magic had originally shown this fine piece back on April 14, 2009. Inspired by all of the art works that he viewed by all of the other shown artists here on Modeler Magic, and all over the internet, Cory decided to make this fantastic model replica. He did an amazing job!

Ian Lawrence – 1994 MPC X-Wing Build – RED 2

Built from the old MPC kit back in 1994, this RED 2 X-Wing model was also shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on April 10, 2009! I love this landed version “look” of the X-Wing. Artist Ian Lawrence continues his excellence as an artist today with his creations and builds in this art form.
