1:72 Fine Molds Darth Vader TIE X-1 by Paresh Ladd

The Scale Workshop’s artist Paresh Ladd returns with this great build of of the Fine Molds Vader TIE!

This is something we builders of ‘Fine Molds Star Wars kits’ have been waiting a long time for: Darth Vader’s Advanced Tie Fighter in 1/72 scale. I pre ordered mine and began putting it together the day it arrived. Anyone who has built any of Fine Molds Star Wars kits know that these kits are precisely engineered and carry an extraordinary level of detail for such a small scale. It goes together fairly easily. If it were not for the solar panel wings, one could have this kit built and painted in a day. On other Tie Fighter kits, the solar panels are sandwiched between two exterior frame panels, making painting a breeze...

CUSTOMIZED 1:72 FM Slave One build by Jeremy Kennedy

I have the great pleasure of introducing another fine talent to this gallery family… artist Jeremy Kennedy. The custom work Jeremy has done here is fantastic. I am looking forward to viewing and showing more from this artist.

IMG_9617_black

I Used Micro Mask liquid mask to make all the varied paint chipping over the hull. Base coat on the skirt was a Tamiya rattle can (can’t remember the color now sadly. Then two different shades of red based off of a Tamiya hull red. On the main hull, base color is a Tamiya rattle can light grey, followed by airbrushed acrylics of JA Grey and then a custom JA Grey/Green mix.

Most of the interior (I’ll have to take some pics of that it seems, if anyone wants to see them) is Nato Black, and varied shades of that.

Weathering was a bunch of Flory Models washes, along wit...

1:72 Fine Molds Y-Wing by Paresh Ladd

Paresh Ladd returns with another fantastic build…

This was another fun and involving build courtesy of Fine Molds incredible attention to detail. I’m really pleased with the final result and glad that after 3 years of sitting on my shelf, she is finished!

Here’s a summary of the extra detail added during phase II of the build: I first attacked the vector control veins, which was the cause of the original pause on the project. A new pair were scratch-built using plastic card and soldering wire. I up-detailed the front of the spacecraft with extra plating from styrene sheet as well as busied up the cockpit with cables and hoses made from various diameters of copper wire. The final touch was a custom droid...

Millennium Falcon by Foxx Wolf

I have the great pleasure of introducing artist Foxx Wolf to this Gallery! Foxx has been a long time viewer, being inspired by many of the builds he has seen on Modeler Magic, not to mention being able to utilize the amazing reference photos which many fine artists have contributed for us to show. Today we show his Falcon.. beautifully done!

It’s the Fine Molds 1:72 Millennium Falcon, and short of scratch-building I found it to be the closest available kit to the filming miniature. Who doesn’t love the Falcon?

Build time was about 4 months, on and off, evenings and weekends, and a lot of that was the paint job. It’s painted with Tamiya and Humbrol spray can acrylics for the base coats, and all the panelling, weathering and filters were added using 502 Abteilung oils, brushed...
