I love miniatures! I have the great pleasure of introducing another miniaturist to our Gallery today…. Dr. Mark Burnette. Showing first is his repaint pocket Falcon! I am always amazed at how good tiny models can look! Nicely done.

I thought I would submit my first go at the Revell Pocket Millennium Falcon Model.  It is approximately 1/316 scale or about 4 inches in length.  I initially spray painted the model flat white, then added a gray latex wash, and finished by painting the remaining model details in latex paint as well.  I wish the sculpt was more accurate, but it looks pretty nice painted up and makes a great desktop model display.

I have the pleasure of introducing another Collector to our Gallery…. Chris Borges-Silva! Showing first is his Galactica build by Wayne Hough!

This is a Revell 1997 “re-issue” of the classic Battlestar Galactica
model kit.

The model was built and lit by the talented Wayne Hough.

I saw some of Wayne’s work from an ebay auction of another Galactica model and knew I had to commission him to build mine if he would.

He took me up on my offer and I’m very pleased to show photos of the fine job he did.

The ship windows are lit with a white LED Light source and fiber optics. The ship engines have their own LED lights.

A weathering “wash” has been applied to the model to bring out the fine details.

Wayne also added back-lit interiors to the landing bays.

Built from the Revell kit, artist Paul Nyul again shows us his amazing skills! This piece is beautiful from it’s fantastic panel distinctions to it’s beautiful blue fiber optic windows! Notice Paul’s technique of wrapping the LED’s and Fiber together with pieces of drinking straws! Outstanding! This artist is fast becoming a KING of Star Destroyer builds!

Artist Christopher Callaghan is back with another fantastic build from Battlestar Galactica! This TOS Cylon Raider is beautiful. Built from the Revell/Monogram kit, this is another example of ‘off the shelf’ modeling excellence. Nicely done!

As promised that we would be showing more of the “off the shelf” professional kit builds, here is the next in line. Built from the old Revell Monogram kit, professional modeler Chris Lai made this piece look like a Studio Filming miniature! His use of paneled weathering is fantastic as is the finish of the piece! Very nice indeed, again showing that one doesn’t absolutely need to have an expensive studio scaled kit in order to have a very nice collection displayed!

Fantastically built from the Revell kit, professional artist Chris Kelly just finished this commission for a lucky collector. His paint detail is amazing, and rally give this model the depth of realism it needs to really bring you into the piece itself. I would love to see Chris do one of these in a larger scale… say… 3 to 6 feet. I can’t imagine what detail he would add then. It would be glorious! This piece is beautiful!

Here is another TOS Battlestar Galactica build from artist Christopher Callaghan. Using the Revell/Monogram kit, Chris turned this build into a piece worthy of a fine collection. I very much like the blast mark on the wing. Nicely done. It should be noted that the original Monogram kit was used in the original Television Series for a forced perspective shot in a Hangar Bay scene…. making it officially a Studio Scale model, albeit much smaller than it’s regularly used studio filming model cousin we view in all other scenes.
