The Black Hole… one of Disney’s most expensive films to make for it’s time period. The designs from this movie were extremely unique, be it the Robots, or the Cygnus herself. A huge, girder-type of star ship, glowing in the blackness of space. Even the Studio Model (SEEN HERE) was beautiful to view while filming. However… what a monster to build! Back in 2001, professional artist E. James Small took one of the small models (offered back then), stretched it to more match the studio model by giving it an additional section from a second kit. Then painting the model in a florescent color, he began to painstakingly paint each and every single girder on the model itself… giving it the look it needed to be like the studio model...

The Disney Nautilus Sub is one of the best Science Fiction designs ever created in my opinion. Not to mention one of the most recognizable! This beautiful miniature interior was built by a fantastic modeling artist.. Jerry Terrell. When I saw this interior of the Nautilus, my jaw dropped. I must admit to being a huge fan of the Disney Nautilus design, and to see it actually done inside the belly of the beast is a thrill! A beautiful job by artist Jerry Terrell!
Who doesn’t remember this classic Disney film The Black Hole? The crew completely turned into subservient beings watched by the Captain’s thug Robot Maximillian. Master Modeler Tim Nolan has recreated the look of this rather intimidating Robot in his build of this great model. His choice of color is perfect and gives Maximillian the awesome coldness appearance he had in the movie. This is the second fantastic piece shown on the Gallery site from Tim Nolan.
