TOY CONVERSION! 1:18 Civilian Belbullab by Mattias Seger

This artist never ceases to amaze me with his builds! This build is a conversion from the Hasbro toy… and what a fantastic conversion it is! It could be filmed today as a Studio Model! Mattias’s use of weathering on the front of this is especially appreciated as it adds complete realism to this fantasy piece. Another great piece from master artist Mattias Seger!

1:18 V-Wing from the Modeler Magic Collection

Physical models for the filming industry are sadly, and quickly, becoming an art of the past. That stated, the CG artists and builders are now doing incredible works with all the new pieces we enjoy in the movies and series we watch. The toy makers of today use those original CG files to make perfect shapes of those pieces we enjoy, but make minor changes to them in order to make them “Play-Worthy” of today’s children. Because I am a child at heart, I have never stopped the idea of playing with toys… which is another reason why this Gallery exists. Toys today have become such works of art that converting them to a studio model representation is sometimes as simple a new paint job! Here, with this HASBRO toy, we can see how these toys can be made to be fantastic pieces of art!

Master pattern maker Barry Murray (of Saltire Technologies fame) has taken two Hasbro Jedi ETA Fighters and made them into a TRAINING Interceptor! While it is still “in works” you can already tell that it will be fantastic! From Barry’s mind… to a beautiful piece… this is a beautiful creation!

STUDIO TIE FIGHTER Hasbro Toy Conversion by Marc Elkins

I am always impressed when an artist takes a simple toy and turns it into a museum piece! Master artist Marc Elkins did just that with the re-issue of the “better shaped” Hasbro TIE Fighter toy. Even the interior got a make-over! Another impressive piece from Marc Elkins!

HASBRO X-wing Toy to Studio Model Conversion by Rob (aka PHARCHIVIST)

I am always amazed to see what artists do with the toys available today. Fantastic artist Rob (aka Pharchivist) shows us that a Studio Model need not be only for the high price collectors, but for everyone that can pick up a paint brush and knife. Actually… it is quite a bit more difficult than that, but he makes it look that easy! Rob made changes to some of the parts of this toy to make it more of his vision of the Studio X-Wing, and with the release of some very good reference for a paint job, was able to replicate RED 5 pretty well! It is now a fantastic STUDIO piece! Very impressive work from an excellent artist.

Hasbro TIE Fighter “STUDIO” Conversion by Mattias Seger

Everyone knows that grew up during the 70’s that the Star Wars Kenner toys were just not shaped correctly. In the past few years Hasbro Toy Company has taken extra effort to get the proportions corrected as much as possible. Since doing so, some talented modelers, like Mattias Seger have gone the extra mile in making the toy look like an actual studio model! The detail work, lighting and paint job is crucial to this task… and Mattias Seger did so with flying colors! A great example of a fantastic TOY conversion!

COMING SOON!! Clone Wars Republic Y-Wing TOY from Hasbro

From the beginning of the newest Star Wars animated series “The Clone Wars”, this heavy fighter/bomber has become one of the most noticeable of that series. Mainly because it is the pre-cursor vessel to what we viewed in Star Wars – A New Hope. Highly in demand, Hasbro finally decided to make the full sized toy for release! MUCH better than any Star Wars toys I played with as a child, these come close to being true to the actual CG renders used for the series itself. With a little effort, each could be made into a studio model for display!

Thank you to my friend Barry Murray for providing this long awaited information to us all!
