Earlier this week, and a direct drop shipping $800 delivery charge later,  a great treat arrived in the form of a 177 pound, 6 foot long wooden crate…. the two 41 inch Blockade Runner’s that artist Ray Lawson built for me from the amazing Christ Kelley kits! Having little time on my hands as of late, the crate sat untouched until late two nights ago, when I took the time to uncrate the boxes within. Yesterday early evening I managed to cut the two boxes open to view the beasts for the first time in person. The first thing I saw of each model were their massive engine sections that emerged immediately when taking the packing materials away. These things are VERY large...

Both professional modeler’s Stuart Jones and Ray Lawson received their Chris Kelley kits nearly at the same time, and thus have been building these amazing builds at the same time. Therefore, since we had just showed Ray’s from this side of the pond, I thought it fantastic to be able to show Stuart’s as well from his side of the pond! Based off the ROTJ version, Stuart’s build is outstanding! Stuart has spent years studying this model for this exact moment. Plus… through his expertise, he collaborated with Ray on my ANH bird that Ray is currently building! Thanks guys!

Ray Lawson is no newbie, but a very seasoned professional model builder. Today he shows us his magnificent build of the Chris Kelley kit that is based off of the paint scheme seen in Star Wars Episode III while keeping the body style we viewed in Star Wars Episode VI! This is a beautiful build! Ray is currently building the 41 inch Kuhn Global/Modeler Magic ANH Runner… so stay tuned!

Master Kit Maker Chris Kelley is back with this fantastic and huge A-Wing! Could this be a preemptive look at a new giant kit?!! Only Chris knows! Modeler Magic would certainly love to view a studio scale kit release of this model… and this is VERY close to the correct size! For whatever reason the studio scale A-Wing has eluded the kit markets thus far, so I very much appreciate looking at the artists creating studio scale one-offs, like this one. Measuring 26.25 inches in length, and having a pilot figure that stands 8 inches tall…. this is an impressive scratch built piece!

These massive 41 inch Chris Kelley Blockade Runner kits are going together quite well from what artist Ray Lawson II tells me! Here are the most recent updates! As you can see.. the lighting has begun… and Ray is even placing figures in the bridge area…which will be behind glass in the end. Nice!!

The new, and giant Blockade Runner Chris Kelley kit is amazing! Artist Ray Lawson II is building TWO different versions side by side! The very recognizable “A New Hope” version (the first ship we ever saw in Star Wars), and the even more impressive version from Return of the Jedi, but with Ray’s own twist on it! The “A New Hope” version will come to Modeler Magic to be placed on display for all to see. Looks like Ray has the engine area figured out…. which on both the smaller Randy Cooper kit, and this giant Chris Kelly kit is quite challenging to master! Stay tuned for more update this coming year!

Everyone knows the Blockade Runner from Star Wars! It was literally the first ship every seen in the film! Episode 6 – Return of the Jedi saw another incarnation of that vehicle….which you see here in Chris Kelley’s build from his own made kit! This piece is amazing in all it’s detail and finish!

Built from his own kit, master kit maker Chris Kelley reveals his magnificent creation as it should be seen! This beast is amazing! His detail is beautiful as is the lighting. Remember that the ROTJ version is much different than that of the A New Hope version….which is one Ray Lawson II is doing for Kuhn Global / Modeler Magic currently from this same kit.
