 Vintage Cylon Centurion
I was pretty excited when Gary Hutzel asked me to build and redesign the original Cylon Centurion for Razor. Once again my goal was not to reinvent the wheel but create something that a BSG fan like myself would like to see. In the original BSG TV series it was obvious that the Cylon was a man in a robot costume. The new redesigned Cylon Centurion was a full CGI 3D model, and this time the MAN in the robot costume was replaced by a metal skeleton frame and hydraulic pipes. I also wanted to give him an imposing 6’5” tall and menacing looking by keeping iconic features distinctive of the Cylon Centurion...

Vintage Cylon Raider

For BSG Razor, Gary Hutzel asked me to bring back to life the vintage Cylon Raider. Inspired by the original unique flying saucer design from the great Ralph McQuarrie, I didn’t want to go too far out in redesigning the Raider from the original flying saucer design. As a fan of the original BSG TV series, I felt that I had to preserve as much as possible the nostalgic feeling with the redesigned Cylon Raider to keep the fans happy.

Dale Long (owner of the famed ByYourCommand.net) emailed me the orthos from Doug Drexler of the Mk III Vipers seen in Blood & Chrome! I must admit…. this design is even better than the Ron Moore MK II version. It is more stout and it’s new canopy design is beautiful. It’s lines remind me more of the classic viper we all know, yet keeps with the modern era story. It’s lines are beautiful! I would love to see some of you kit producers out there make a 1:18 kit of this beast! Not to mention I would love to see Moebius get this and place it in their already successful lineup of Battlestar models. I would like to sow more from this show… but only official content please...
