The Next Star Trek Film – May 17, 2013

Paramount Pictures has pushed its “Star Trek” sequel back nearly a year, from June 2012 to May 17, 2013, the studio announced Wednesday.

Paramount announced the new date on Wednesday, but it actually removed “Star Trek” from its June 29, 2012, slot several months ago, when it put “G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation” into the spot.

Directed, written and produced by J. J. Abrams, the sequel will be in 3D and star Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin and Zoe Saldana as Capt. Kirk, Spock, Chekov and Uhura — the parts they played in the 2009 hit “Star Trek.”

The new movie remains untitled.

May 17 is a coveted date, just before Memorial Day. Sony recently removed Roland Emmerich’s sci-fi “Singularity” from the date, making it all the more attractive for Paramount.

NEWS!! 1:350 Star Trek TOS Enterprise from ROUND 2 Models CONFIRMED!!!

jamie0005-sized

Wonderfest is one of those events that many great things are announced. This year was no different as Steve Iverson (CULT TV MAN) confirmed with ROUND 2 Models that the 1:350 TOS Enterprise kit WILL BE RELEASED  in 2012! The even better news is it will be in TWO editions…. The DELUXE Edition will be sold ONLY through ROUND 2 at a price point of $150 U.S., while the Standard Edition will be released shortly after and sold through retailers like the CULT TV MAN Shop! My hopes is that it will come with parts so that the kit can be made into any of the three TOS version Enterprises that we viewed on the TV Series in the 1960’s. Thanks to Mr. Iverson of CULT TV MAN for releasing this information to us all!

KIT NEWS! 1:2500 New Movie Enterprise Kit CANCELLED by Round 2 Models

ROUND2_ENTERPRISE_CANCELLED_2320X1080

New Star Trek Movie fans are disappointed with the latest announcement from Round 2 Models (who produce the fantastic Polar Lights kits). They have decided to not make and release the anticipated product for reasons only known to Paramount Pictures and Round 2 currently. While Modeler’s Miniatures and Magic would have like to have seen this 11.5 inch snap together kit of the Ryan Church redesigned Enterprise released, I am certain there is a resonable explanation that we simply cannot know at this time. My hopes are that they have decided to release a larger version…. like in 1:800 scale… making it three feet long. As knowledge becomes prevalent, we will be able to tell you more. As seen on Model Kit Central, here is the statement Round 2 issued…

Round 2 is not proceeding with development...

Star Trek THE EXPERIENCE Items On AUCTION Block in Las Vegas

Once again I am sad to state for the second time that Star Trek The Experience in Las Vegas has finally closed it’s doors. The one great thing for Collectors is that the items it had are ALL for sale, or on the Auction Block. Replacing the attraction will be a Kennedy Space Center produced 30 minute “LIVE” show based on the 2009 HIT movie Star Trek… and it’s Universe. I look forward to viewing that.

As Oscar Garcia, AP writes…

LAS VEGAS (AP) — “Star Trek” fans looking for Enterprise chairs, Starfleet uniforms or a model Klingon Bird of Prey can seek out new life for the dismantled pieces of a closed Las Vegas attraction based on the famous franchise.

The Sequeal to the hit movie re-vamp of STAR TREK is on it’s way! As of now, the only names officially attached to the sequel movie are writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzmann. However, Paramount has announced a tentative release date of JUNE 29, 2012! Whisperings have suggested KHAN as the villain in the sequel, but one never knows with re-boots like this. Confirmed: New contract to keep Star Trek The Experience alive in Vegas

SCI FI Wire confirmed today that a contract has been signed with CBS/Paramount to reopen the Star Trek The Experience exhibit in Las Vegas on May 8 —starting with at least a new restaurant and retail shop—to coincide with the opening of J.J. Abram’s Star Trek movie.

“It is a bit premature to talk about it, but I can confirm that a contract has been signed,” Liz Kalodner, executive vice president and general manager of CBS consumer products in New York, told SCI FI Wire exclusively. “I do not have any further comment.”

Las Vegas city public information officer Jace Radke confirmed to SCI FI Wire that Star Trek The Experience, which was to be closed at its home at the Las Vegas Hilton this year, will move downtown to the Neonopolis Center...
