Here are photos of the Aluminum-Resin armature we designed for our X-Wing. The main reason for changing the classical ILM Armature was that we couldn’t find anyone skilled enough to make us some of the aluminum parts for a reasonable price. We constructed three full aluminum armatures and they were a nightmare to build and the wings never closed straight. I studied new ways of offering articulated wings and came up with the armature you see in the pictures.
I changed the support for the wings from 8 aluminum parts to two supports cast in highly resistant resin strengthened with steel wire. Wings function perfectly well and it is really easy to assemble, it took me an hour to assemble the 4 wings to the armature.
