I have the great pleasure of looking closely at this new (or re-pop might be the better choice of wording) KORBANTH 1/24 TIE Bomber Kit. It is beautiful! First thing to note is how much larger it is than the studio scale model. It is sized, however, to go along side the studio scale X and Y-wings that can also be purchased from KORBANTH. As a builder/collector myself, being in the same scale is something I appreciate. The next thing to note is where this came from. Artist Alfred Wong originally mastered these patterns, and they are beautiful. Korbanth recently acquired these from Alfred, and after some minor revisions of their own (by artist Mark Worley), it is now for sale on their site. The kit itself is beautiful. Mostly clean, it does have a few tiny bubbles here and there, but nothing so notable that any model builder could not take care of in their joy of model building. The majority of the kit appears very crisp and clean. Mark Worley placed a nice edge on the three piece wing panels that they may go together easier, as well as the left and right halves of the cylinder shaped bodies. The photos are untouched and at their full resolution for you to click on and see for yourselves. This is my kit pictured as I purchased it after seeing it. It was personally brought here by Korbanth owner Randy Johnson that I may get a look at it. Let’s face it… he likely suspected I would buy it…lol. Even so, I very much appreciate him bringing it here as it is a very worthy kit that I am excited to get built. Thank you again Randy! It shall be a nice addition as a replacement to a scratch built 1/24 TIE Bomber I regrettably let go of years ago to a friend and fellow collector.
