Kuhn Global’s FOUR DeSanto Battlestar Galactica Continuation 1/24 COLONIAL VIPERS – Built by R.L. Bleecker – From the Moonbase Models Kits – Blue Screen by Kuhn Global (Kurt Kuhn) – Composite by Robert Watson!

I love back stories! Tom DeSanto’s “Battlestar Galactica: The Continuation” story really took everyone to excitement. Unfortunately after the senseless Terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York on 9/11/2001, many projects were placed in the closet, where they remain even today. Never-the-less, design work had been created, of which resulted in what you see before you today. These 4 models that were built in mid 2008, and the Robert Watson Composite, were originally shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on March 24, 2009 and are now being updated to today’s showing standard. I must say that these models have held up marvelously over the past decade of being on display here. The models were built by artist R.L. Bleecker from the then newly developed (Gil Brumana) Moonbase Models Kits. The Moonbase Models kits of the 1/24 DeSanto Continuation Colonial Viper were corrected (with assistance industry artist Mark Dickson) from the original designed pattern and kit then offered by artist Michael Miles of Michael Miles Artistry. Remembering it all, back in 2005-2006,.. years before Moonbase Models made their corrected kits, I had acquired a few of the original Michael Miles Artistry Viper kits, one of which may still be displayed in Tom DeSanto’s office. You may view that model, built by artist David Martis originally for the Kuhn Global Collection, by clicking HERE.  Getting back to these 4 models shown here today, after having successfully negotiated with Michael Miles Artistry, the corrections were made by Moonbase Models, and the new kit was born. The Moonbase Models Kit was quite excellent and artist R.L. Bleecker (Bob) did a magnificent job building and painting each of them. He made Starbuck the CAG, with Boomer as his wingman. Then he made Jolley and Greenbean as well! Making the Vipers a base white was a brilliant idea as well as it truly shows off the detail of the model. I appreciate all involved in getting these made for display!

Artist Robert Watson contacted me, asking me to take specific angled photos of the 4 Vipers in order to utilize them for his amazing composite that he created which he names “A New Dawn”. I love it!

The Tom DeSanto Contation Viper design has been made several times by different artists, in different scale. The last kit I know of that was offered of this Viper design in 1/24 was created and offered in 2014 by “By Your Command” owner Dale Long and artist John Cherevka. I believe their kits, like all before them, have since gone into the “Out of Production” closet. Maybe one day it may be offered yet again.
