Red 6, along with Red 4 are the two elusive X-Wing paint jobs from 1977’s Star Wars – A New Hope. Using photo reference of the original SIX X-wings used in the original Star Wars, artist Marc Elkins painstakingly made this RED 6 replica outstanding. (Of course with the angles we had of this reference, some of this paint scheme was estimated, and is as close ans anyone in the world could be). With only the assist of artist Dan Grumeretz to place the wings on when we received the build, this piece now completes the entire X-Wing squadron for the Kuhn Global/Modeler Magic Collection as they were seen in 1977’s Star Wars! The only differences are the R2 unit in the original model is now the R5 unit that we saw in the full sized prop the actor playing Porkins showed behind him. And of course, while the helmet for Porkins pilot figure is correct to the actor’s helmet, we chose not to fatten him up…LOL. Marc even gave him a mustache!
I will be taking full squadron Blue Screen photos after taking individual photos of RED’s 4, 3 and 2, which Marc and Dan also did to complete this collection. I am extremely pleased with their work! Enjoy!
