El USS Intrepid (CV/CVA/CVS-11), también conocido como The Fighting I, fue uno de los 24 portaaviones de la clase Essex construidos durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial para la Marina de los Estados Unidos. Es el cuarto buque Marina de EE.UU. que lleva este nombre

Comisionado en agosto de 1943, el Intrepid participó en varias campañas en el Teatro de Operaciones del Pacífico, en particular la Batalla del Golfo de Leyte. Sus aviones contribuyeron al hundimiento del Musashi y Yamato, pero a cambio recibio el impacto de 2 kamikazes.

The USS Intrepid (CV/CVA/CVS-11), also known as The Fighting I, was one of 24 Essex-class aircraft carrier built during World War II the United States Navy. It is the fourth U.S. Navy ship of that name
Commissioner in August 1943, the Intrepid participated in several campaigns in the Pacific Theater of Operations, in particular the Battle of the Leyte Gulf. Their planes contributed to the sinking of the Musashi and Yamato, but instead was hit by 2 kamikazes.

Discharged shortly after the war ended, was revamped and released back into service as the 1950 attack carrier (CVA), and later as antisubmarine carriers (CVS).
His second career, he served mainly in the Atlantic, but also participated in the Vietnam War. His notable achievements include being the first U.S. carrier to launch aircraft with steam catapults, and if the recovery vessel and the Mercury Project Gemini Program.

Due to its prominent role in the battle, was nicknamed The Fighting I, while his often bad luck and the time spent in dry dock for repairs, made him earn the nickname of The Dry I. It was decommissioned in 1974 and in 1982 became the foundation museum ship Intrepid SeaAirSpace Museum in New York.
