Tholian Cruiser by Kevin Stooksbury

Artist Kevin Stooksbury returns with this great scratch build of the vessel we all know from the original series Star Trek episode…. The Tholian Web! A beautiful build!

Here are images of a recent scratch build project I did of the Tholian cruiser from TOS Star Trek. The “wings”” of the ship are made of .50 sheet styrene and attached over a wooden dowel rod. The nose was cast from resin. The finished model is about 11 inches long. I debated painting it gray like the studio model, but decided to go with the way it actually appeared in the episode. I painted it a titanium steel and highlighted it with Tamiya clear orange and red to get the prismatic effect. 1:350 2nd PILOT Enterprise 1701 by Kevin Stooksbury

Artist Kevin Stooksbury showed us his talents last month with his magnificent build of the TOS Enterprise 1701. This is the pilot version, which I feel is interesting in its own right but for some reason is not often chosen to be built by modelers. This is the Round 2 1/350 kit with the following features:
-The grid lines on the saucer were filled and sanded smooth

1:350 Enterprise 1701 by Kevin Stooksbury

I have the fantastic pleasure of introducing another great talent to this gallery….. artist Kevin Stooksbury! His first showing is the ever anticipated Polar Lights 1:350 TOS Enterprise! What makes Kevin’s build stand out among the rest is that he actually air-brushed nearly ALL of the hull markings on this build! The rest were dry transfers that were mostly used in the film industry back in the day. FANTASTIC!!

Here is my built up Round 2 1:350 Enterprise. A lot of people are building these but my build is a little different. First, there are no decals on this model. The hull pennants, lettering, ship name, even the red pin striping are all airbrushed on. The tiny hull section numbers are custom made dry transfers...
