Red 4, along with Red 6, is one of the most elusive paint schemes for the X-Wing. This one was painted as a direct replica of the original filming miniature used in 1977’s Star Wars! With the final wings placed on by Dan Grumeretz, this fantastic piece was built and painted by artist Marc Elkins! The A New Hope X-Wing squadron is now complete and can be seen in the collection of Kuhn Global / Modeler’s Miniatures and Magic. Photographing these birds with their accurate paint schemes (or as accurate as anyone on the world can get them from the actual studio model photos) was a complete pleasure. I felt as if I was in the ILM studio filming Star Wars! Thank you to Marc Elkins, and Dan Grumeretz for bringing these X-Wings to life! Enjoy the Blue Screen photos… and stay tuned for RED’s 2 & 3, then full squadron photos coming soon!
