The Chinese PLA do play a role in my Sci-fi verse. The Type-99’s were used by the elite units within the PLA. These elite armor units were engaged against the alien invaders early in the war. Battles took place in major population centers in and around Beijing, PRC.
After several months of relentless waves of air and ground assaults. The Chinese leadership caved to pressure to halt fighting. In return the invaders earned their first victory. Invaders were provided safe haven for their forces, dropships, equipment and command/control operations.
However, some divisions of the PLA -in defiance to their leadership- deserted. They fled west to regroup what remaining armor, equipment, and manpower. The deserters pondered over how and when to launch a counteroffensive against the heavily armed invaders.
