This is another Commission Build. I started out Cleaning all of the parts using warm water and a few drops of dish detergent to remove any mold release. To make sure I had good adhesion for the primer cote, every thing was lightly scuffed wit a scotch bright pad. I used Vallejo acrylic primer thinned slightly and sprayed through the airbrush for a good base to start laying down paint. All of the lighting was installed prior to painting and I added light to the officers lounge windows on the neck of the ship and to the shuttle bay windows in the aft section. Aztec Dummy vinyl masks were used to create the tricolor green pattern which was airbrushed using Tamiya acrylic paints. The masks work well but a lot of clean up was necessary by re masking and re spraying many of the different pattern shapes to get the sharp lines to look correctly. Gluing all the sections of the model together went fairly well however there were some light gaps that needed to be addressed around the front and back of the main hull. Weathering was done using acrylic washes, oil paint and a light gray pastel to replicate the light dusty appearance seen on the original motion picture filming model. The model was flat given a flat clear cote to lock every thing down. Finally a custom wood base was made and incorporated with the supplied plastic stand that came with the model. The base was finished in a hammered copper paint with additional dark iron accents and a Klingon logo. I have to say that I am very pleased with the way this model turned out and feel that this is some of my best work to date. I hope you all out there enjoy it as much as I did building it.
Best always,
