1:1000 Venator Republic Star Destroyer WIP by Benjamin Arendt

Once again I have the great pleasure of introducing another fine artist to our Gallery Family… Benjamin Arendt! Today Benjamin shows us his magnificent WIP of the Rebublic Star Destroyer! I am very much look forward to showing more from this artist.

Here is my scratch build progress of the 1:1000 scale Venator.

It’s all styrene with the addition of some threaded bars, nuts and washers. The main thickness for the fuselage halves is 1mm, the massive stuff is 3mm.

I don’t plan to kit it as I am going through enough problems with it being my very first scratch build. The beast is a total of 1137mm which is about 3feet and 8 something inches. A big beauty I think. At the moment I am fighting with the bridge tower, I put on some Aves and now I need to sand it down to make it look nice and smooth. The angles are tricky….

The ship will be fully lit and the big doors at the front starting bay will be moveable. There are some 1:1000 LAAT/s and ARCs going on as well. But they don’t come from my desk; these are build from a member at www.phoxim.de for me.

One side hangar will be opened up while the other one will stay closed.

The Venator itself is a lot of interpretation as there is no studio model. I used the measurements from the Revell of Germany Model of this ship.

Thanks!

Benjamin
