Given to me by Mark Dickson to show on this gallery site, from his massive studio library, are these wonderful photos of the tear down and restoration of the 11 foot USS Enterprise Studio Model used in Star Trek The Original Series. This historic, original studio piece resides in the Smithsonian Museum, and the restoration was done by master modeler (and industry known) Ed Miarecki, with some assistance from Steve Horsch.
Just look at the construction of the original model! Mostly WOOD!!!
I am told that the ONLY part of the original paint job that was untouched during restoration (meaning it is STILL original) was the top of the saucer section. So, I am pleased to say, all the simulated streaks and rust patterns still remain!
Thank you Mark Dickson for contributing these fine photos to the Gallery!
