Kit Description: The 1:48 Convair Space Station Lifeboat has just landed in the Fantastic Plastic Virtual Museum Store!

This is the two-man rescue craft designed by Krafft Ehricke in 1957 to provide emergency egress for astronauts aboard his proposed Atlas missile-based Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL). (You may be familiar with the classic plastic model kit produced by HAWK Models in the late 1950s and early 1960s.)

Ehricke’s elegant wedge-shaped design proved so versatile that he used it as a command module on several other proposed spacecraft he developed for Convair in the late 1950s.
