Kit Description: In 1954, Robert Bartinti, a Hungarian-Italian aerospace designer who ended up working for the Soviet Union, was given funding to develop a giant sea-based intercontinental bomber. Bartinti’s A-57 was a beast. Nearly 70 meters (228) feet long and weighing in at 320 tonnes, the plane would have incorporated VTOL-like thrusters to help it get airborne, plus its own parasite fighter jet for defense over enemy territory. But in 1957, after the success of Sputnik, the Soviets realized that ICBMs, not manned bombers, were the future of nuclear warfare, and the A-57 seaplane bomber project was cancelled.
As fans of “fantastic” aircraft, we simply HAD to kit this plane. In 1:144, our kit includes 36 bubble-free resin parts, including the parasite jet. The pattern is by Scott Lowther. Casting is by Creative Cast Parts. Waterslide decals by by JBOT. When fully assembled, the model is 18 inches long.
