Sean Sides in one of those artists that always leaves me with a smile when I view his amazing builds! This beautiful replica of the Mineral Ship (from the 1978 series Battlestar Galactica) will be able to be seen in person, along with all of Sean Side’s studio scale Rag Tag fleet.. and a studio scale Cylon Baseship as well! GALACTICON IV is where you can see them all!! Fantastic work Sean….. always!

Studio Scale Filming Miniature Replica of the Mineral Ship (Livery Ship) from TOS Battlestar Galactica.
This replica is about 42″ long, and accurately recreates nearly every part for part of the original filming miniature. A great deal of effort went into researching all the details, dimensions and parts. I chose to do a little extra weathering on this as it just seemed so appropriate for it’s “purpose”. However, most all the weathering on the top 3 discs are very accurate to the original One area of particular detail is the “cockpit”. There are some nice references of the original that shows a very similar design (the airline type windows). I got as close as I could to that original shape/design. This is my second time building this replica. The first one came out pretty well, but lacked a few details and I did not have the references available today.
This model will be on display at Galacticon IV in Seattle, July 31 – Aug2, along with the Studio Scale Galactica and BaseStar filming miniature replicas, about a dozen other rag tag ships, and numerous other Galactica models (Vipers, Shuttle, etc.). Please stop by my exhibit area if you come to the show.
