MSLZ22 Models – Battlestar Galactica – MEGA SCALE – 1:12 TOS Viper in Launch Tube by Ian Lawrence

This piece was originally shown here on Modelers Miniatures & Magic back on December 13, 2012 and now updated to today’s showing standard! U.K. artist Ian Lawrence is even more impressive as the years (decades) fly by. This beautiful piece was made from the then offered MSLZ22 (Mike Salzo) 1/12 Colonial Viper kit. I believe digital artist Mike Reis had a hand in creating this large Viper as well if memory serves me, and Dan Grumeretz may have sculpted the Pilot (of that I am not sure). At twice studio scale, this Viper alone comes in at 31 inches long. Mega-Scale! (Anything 1/18 or larger for this type of model I had begun stating as being “MEGA-Scale” on Modeler Magic when these scales began to be offered in the 2000’s). That stated, this kit was huge and based off the hero Colonial Viper model. Ian then built this marvelous launch tube around it and it suddenly brings to life the iconic launch scenes in 1978’s Battlestar Galactica. It is beautiful work indeed by Ian Lawrence!
