Kit Description: This is a studio scale replica of the escape shuttle “Narcissus” from the 1979 Ridley Scott film Alien. This model represents 6 years of research and work, from building a complete 3D CAD model, to creating full patterns for the physical replica. The CAD model was meticulously built over the top of more than 25 behind the scenes photos (with many more also used as reference), utilizing computer perspective matching. The result is unrivaled accuracy, and a near identical replica of this long lost, never before offered model. Virtually every kit part has been identified, purchased, then recreated in CAD from its physical counterpart for reproduction via 3D printing. (I can also offer the option to supply your own kit parts if you would like to go that route). The kit is built on a welded steel armature (replicating the original model), with primary framing of 3mm CNC cut acrylic (120+ pieces). The detailing is made up of 360+ pieces of styrene plating and over 650 kit parts (with a handful of Evergreen and Plastruct parts too).
3D printed elements are also used across the ship – replicating the hand carved/modeled engines and nozzles is one such example. Commercially printed water-slide decals are included.
This is a complex model which will require a high degree of patience and skill to build. Scratch building experience is highly recommended.
This replica was built as a personal project, and was never intended to be offered as a kit. For this reason, it will be available in very limited numbers and for a short time only.
