Here’s some photos of my Lost in Space dioramas that I’ve built in different scales. I mostly built them over the last year while staying home during the pandemic. The dioramas outgrew my house so I display them in a building downtown, along with some props associated with those scenes.
I used the 3rd season Sci Fi Metropolis figures for the 1/6th scale Condemned of Space diorama and for the other 1st and 2nd season 1/6th scale figures, Bob Aucutt made them for me. Gary Stair printed a few of the 1/24th and 1/35 scale figures but mostly I would use generic G scale model railroad figures and painted the uniforms on them. I even used N scale figures for the Visit to a Hostile Planet diorama, that was my smallest scale diorama. For the movie stage dioramas, I made them in 1/87th scale so I could use HO scale figures and building parts. I did use a 9″ Trendmaster Dr. Smith for the monster pea pod diorama. The Jupiter 2’s range from 4″ and 6″ vacuum formed or resin spaceships up to a four foot Jupiter 2 on the landing circle. The Blast Off Into Space diorama used a Lunar Models two foot Jupiter 2 and Moebius Chariot. Lunar Models made the Invaders From the Fifth Dimension spaceship and the Keeper spider kit and the Tucker spaceship and the One of Our Dogs is Missing capsule are more recent resin garage kits. The Hapgood spaceship, Travelin Man, was 3D printed at 1/10th scale and the matter transfer machine was also 3D printed. The Chariot is 1/10th scale and is radio controlled. It is built on a Kyosho Blizzard tracked running gear.
Take care,
Bill Hedges
