Kit Description: This is the Space Ship and Capsule from the 1968 Film Planet of the Apes! Made from the fantastic mesh by artist Ian Lawrence, we 3D Printed this beautiful model to be 4 feet in length, but we have the ability to print in most any size. Seen in the photos below is the model with my wife Jo (the other model) along side it for scale. Studio Scale Sci-Fi Models from TV and Cinema.
These are all made using 3D CGI models which are then converted into STL files for printing. These are not resin molds or cast plastic, they are 1st generation prototyping models taken from a 3D file and printed out.
3D Printing
The models I make are printed out on cr-10 printers with a primary layer height of 0.1000 mm this is fine detailed setting for large scale printing with in practical time frame (parts can take weeks to print out). With 3D printing they are no resin parts / no copy of a copy / no warping or sink hole issues, however Even at this quality you still have visible lines with this PLA plastic. ABS is much finer but not stable and prone to warp and cracking during the process of printing and not good for production of large models like these. This is basically a plastic model with a honey comb structure between the layers as its builds up; it can tolerate temp; to 150 degrees before any warping might occur. It takes roughly 2 to 3 months to complete one model this includes the fine sanding and painting time; (this time frame is based on availability of the printers at the time of making your ordering it is first come bases ) I have currently 7 printers printing models 24 /7 and I am adding more printers all the time,
I offer most models in 3 different category’s Basic or Raw , finished kit or complete models.
BASIC
This is only for expert model makers who are familiar with 3D printed items and it requires clean up. As these filament plastic printers leave fine lines layers on everything, you have to sand all the layers smooth with different grades of wet ‘n’ dry paper, very similar to car body work . The model you see in the photos are after hours of sanding to make it completely smooth. If you choose this category you will receive this model with all the flash or plastic support still attached! You will also have to assemble all the parts with superglue and baking powder. No decals or stands are included in this package, ONLY the BASIC RAW KIT.
MODEL KIT
This is a completely sanded smooth and primed model kit. Like a model kit, the parts ready to assemble. This package does include a stand or base and decals with instruction (should this be required).
FINISHED MODEL/DISPLAY
This is a complete finished and painted model with lighting (if lighting was shown). It includes decals and a stand (as seen in the photos of the completed models that have been ordered). Depending on the size of the model (some these models will be over 4 feet long), some sub-assembly and slight touch up of paint at the joint areas may be required
As many of these are unique, some being studio sized models and much larger models, they require extra protection. The built finished models will be shipped in wooden crates for total protection which will be included in the shipping costs
SHIPPING
This is done by getting a basic quote from the shipping company once the model is compete and packaged to get a total shipping price at which time payment would be made for shipping.
Payment
Payment process payment can be made with western union PayPal or bank transfer. These are made to order models so payment must be made in full before any work is started.
